Much deeply thoughtful and studied science around the chemistry, physiology and the psychology of pain. There are some wonderful and promising research at the 2nd Annual NIH HEAL symposium here at the Maryland Gaylord Convention Center. After many years of research, it is still a challenging area of human experience to try to put a finger on safer solutions for pain. *Book tip* Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a form of secondary hydrocephalus that often only occurs after the age of 60. It is often hard to diagnose or confused with other forms of dementia, as the symptoms can be similar. A recently published book on "Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus" by Ondrej Bradac tries to summarize current diagnostic and treatment techniques for the disease. Our CEO, Christoph Miethke, also contributed to the book. In the chapter "Shunt Technology for the Treatment of Hydrocephalus", he describes different types of shunt systems and gives an outlook on the future direction of shunt device development, which will also rely on close working relationships between technicians and neurosurgeons.
