C-Capture Ltd., Leeds has devised a way to extract the carbon dioxide created by commercial manufacturing from the atmosphere. It can then send this captured CO2 for storage in geological reserves. The Leeds-based firm can apply its technology to emissions from hydrogen, steel, thermal electricity generation and natural gas sweetening. Venture capital firm Northern Gritstone is contributing capital to C-Capture Ltd., Leeds ongoing funding round, which is targeting a close of up to £10m. It has gone on to pull £8m in capital from bp Ventures, Kiko Ventures and Drax Group, so they’re well on their way🎉 Tom White , CEO of C-Capture Ltd., Leeds, said: “This investment brings us one step closer to realising our mission of mitigating climate change by allowing our team to focus on scaling our technology.” Congratulations Tom White, Caspar Schoolderman, Phil Southerden, Tom S. and the rest of the team! We feel it’s really important to share the hard work that people are doing to put our planet first. That’s why we’ll continue to feature many innovative ClimateTech companies on our page moving forward. At Tapestry, we're usually posting exciting news about new bonds on sale. Not today. Coastal GasLink is selling about $7 billion in bonds to continue pipeline development, in the largest Canadian corporate bond deal ever. https://lnkd.in/e2_ihVJp. Tapestry supports Wet'suwet'en hereditary leaders and land defenders in urging investors NOT to participate in this bond sale. Wet'suwet'en leaders say the pipeline development will put Indigenous communities and important cultural sites at risk — not to mention cause major environmental damage. We believe in investment as a tool for social and environmental good, but far too often it's used in ways that harm communities and the planet. Now is a crucial time to stand against this system. Let's not allow Canada's biggest bond sale ever to leave such a destructive legacy. Please read the full letter below, and share widely among asset managers, pension funds and the impact investment community. https://lnkd.in/eW-2RUza #finance #investment #sustainableinvesting #sustainablefinance

The third Cooperative Principle we're highlighting is Member Economic Participation. Basin Electric is a not-for-profit organization, so the profit generated by the co-op does not benefit a small group of owners or investors, but the entire cooperative membership. It is not the fact of profit, but the uses to which it is devoted, that differentiates co-ops from private for profit businesses. With Member Economic Participation, members decide how to allocate any surpluses or margins. #GoCoop

Land ownership and access is increasingly prohibitive for most Americans. Land is one of the most important investments to build generational wealth. Land access is also vital to human flourishing and happiness. This is why in 2024, we at Macfarlan Capital Partners are dead set on creating innovative opportunities for access and investment to land!

When it comes to investing, sometimes boring is better. For 25 years, Europe and US-focused private equity investor Flexstone Partners has held strong to its odd but effective investment thesis: specialise in all the boring companies that no one wants to talk about at a cocktail party. One of the more 'boring' investments made by Flexstone was in residential gutter cleaning services in the US. And its thesis has also resonated within Australia: the country is Flexstone's third biggest market for institutional investors. The Australian Business Growth Fund (ABGF) follows a similar strategy. Its CEO Anthony Healy cites Australian rubber and metals manufacturer Derwent Industries Pty Ltd as an example. "It sounds boring to someone that's looking for more glamorous investments, but actually what we liked about it is it's supplying into very stable, non-volatile sectors like water, like oil and gas, like defence," he says. Derisking projects to attract investor interest, particularly in the context of upcoming decisions in Alberta is extremely important. The need for regulatory frameworks, economic viability, and a long-term vision alongside the role of government incentives, particularly through the IRA, is crucial in providing the necessary "carrots" to drive significant investments in projects like carbon capture. #DeRisking #InvestorInterest #CarbonCapture
