Long post alert - Thank you to everyone who congratulated me on my work anniversary. It’s given me a chance to reflect… At a time when it's increasingly rare, challenging at least, and not-trendy at best, to stay at the same institution for several years, I am grateful for my journey at CMU and all the blessings it has afforded me. In the past 18 years, I've had opportunities I did not seek out. When mentors and superiors saw strengths in me that I didn't see in myself, I started down a path I'd never considered and, quite frankly, didn't know existed. When people doubted my ability or I questioned it myself, I set out to prove us both wrong. I’ve been rewarded with a career and profession that has enriched my life in many ways. My work is fulfilling, purposeful, challenging, and always expanding my world in unexpected ways. I have learned that some of our greatest lessons come from understanding the human experience of others; what may appear to be someone’s good fortune almost always has roots in attitude, effort, application, adaptability, and supportive relationships; and many people care about creating opportunities for the betterment of others and are far more generous than you would ever imagine. When thinking about my development, I've often reflected on a time in my adolescence when I struggled. In junior high, I retreated inward. Unsure of my new surroundings and overly concerned with what other people would think of me, I got quiet. It took me a long time to respond out of fear and lack of confidence. I’ve realized that what felt like a setback was a time when I was developing important skills. Being a curious, observant listener, processing what is being said, assessing and formulating my thoughts, and choosing how and when to respond is a skill that has served me well. As my confidence grew, my reservation to share my thoughts diminished, but my ability to listen before speaking remained. It's so simple and commonplace that it is almost unworthy of mentioning. And yet, I’ve realized that time served a worthwhile purpose in my life. A word on higher education: it's more than a degree and a job once completed. It is the process, the experiences, the exposure to other people and opportunities unknown, the conversations, the critical thinking, and the skills launched into development that enrich, benefit, and propel lives individually, and in society. Higher education is not the only path to success and does not guarantee it. Just as we should not devalue or discredit those who choose another path, we should not formulate the value of higher education on dollars and degrees alone. I've heard time, and time again from people in vastly different professions with differing political views and life experiences that higher education laid the foundation on which they have built the rest of their lives. It surely has impacted mine.

Offically celebrating one month as a Software Engineer! 🎉 It still feels surreal, but I'm taking a moment to reflect on my journey so far. Wins: - Contributed to the main codebase three times, twice on my own ticket and once assisting a senior. - Contributed to UI changes for a new major update. - Started on a second project and assisted a senior with a task on an entirely different codebase. Lessons learned: - Slow down and prioritize accuracy over speed. - Keep asking questions, even if it feels like too many. - Don't hesitate to ask for and give feedback; it's how we grow as developers. - Take some for yourself- this is a marathon not a sprint! Its okay to take breaks and relax a bit, as this will ultimately help you be more productive anyway! Thank you for sharing this reflection with me- I am excited to continue this journey and grateful for the positive feedback from my last update post. My goal is to continue sharing my experience to hopefully resonate with others who are in the same position, or shed some postivity to those hoping to be here soon! Now, pursuing a technical course, it's easy to evaluate the progress made so far. -'How many questions have you done on LeetCode ?' -'How many stars have you earned on HackerRank ?' But very often, the underrated star which plays a very important role overall is often underestimated - "Soft Skills". Though you may think you are good at it but there is always scope of improvement, lot of new learnings to add on.🙌 Using the perfect opportunity of my summer break to add upon my soft skills, I am glad to share that i completed TCS iON Career Edge- Young Professional course covering a variety of topics and adding more to my present skill set. For Kyndryl's 2nd anniversary, I celebrate my progress. Recently I got back to running, it's my passion that helps me excel in my day job! Consistency, perseverance, and determination - these are the cornerstones of success both on the run trail or race and in the workplace. Just as I push myself to dig deeper to cross the finish line, I bring that same mindset to my professional life. The discipline developed through training has taught me to tackle any challenge head-on. It's about recognizing that obstacles are simply part of the race, and with the right mindset, they can be overcome. The true meaning of being educated is to be constantly in sync with the developments of the world. And when you're a #techie, keeping yourself updated with the trends becomes all the more relevant. Even though I took up commerce with computer science and then BCA in degree, I felt that there was a skill gap, with adequate emphasis on the practical aspects of things! The absence of suitable mentorship limited me but fortunately, I happened to come across Scaler at the perfect moment! The course's emphasis on building a wide range of abilities helped me to prepare for the challenges of everyday work. When I would solve problems before, I didn't know the methods and all. I would randomly solve it, I didn't know the time complexity, and other such concepts. But now, the course has helped me gain clarity! Simultaneously, handling the job and completing the coursework was very difficult. I am currently working at Infosys, where I was first in a support role and am now engaged in Development. But my mentor Ashish Verma encouraged me and guided me through his insights.  He helped me understand how I can utilize it to finish my remaining parts on Saturday, Sunday and concentrate solely on my classes on the weekdays. A big thanks also to instructors like Bhumitra Sharma, because for instance, if someone got a doubt, he would make it seem like it's not a big deal at all, and would patiently help us through the doubts. The road ahead looks uphill, but I am equipped to take on whatever comes my way. Onwards and upwards! #scaler #motivation #growth #techisfun #techie

🎉 Exciting News to Share! 🎉 After a challenging 8-month journey of perseverance and resilience, I am thrilled to announce my upcoming adventure: I will be joining Splunk as a Business Intelligence Engineer Intern for Summer '24! Being an international student, getting a job in the US was extremely difficult as I have navigated through: 430 applications 200 rejections 220 pending/ghosted 10 interviews 9 interview rejections And finally, 1 offer that made all the difference. This journey taught me the power of resilience, the importance of dreams, and the value of unwavering support from my circle of family and friends. A special shoutout to Pooja Bremner, Dylan Bremner, Chinmay Gunishastri, Tanya Prasad, Siddhant Mene, and Adithi Mishra for being my rock during these times. My gratitude extends to my current mentors, Mike Kyle, and UT Dallas - University Career Center whose guidance and insights are invaluable. I also owe a debt of gratitude to my first professional home, Rockmetric, for laying the foundational stones of my career. Thanking all the companies that opened their doors to me during the interview process, including Teradata, Health Care Service Corporation, and MyFitnessPal among others, for the learning opportunities they presented. A huge thank you to my future mentors/managers at Splunk, Pooja Shah, Sandeep Gupta, and Chau Tang, as well as Natasha Dones for her assistance in making the onboarding process as smooth as possible. I am eager to learn from each of you and contribute to our shared goals. Most importantly, I want to take a moment to thank Raul Dhruva (Myself). For believing in me, for the nights of stress and worry, and for pushing through the toughest times with a belief that was stronger than fear.
