Great panel yesterday in Muscat on Generative AI and DE&I. A quick summary of some of the talking points from the panel... Q: What DE&I opportunities that exist regionally and how can AI address them? A: AI offers diverse learning paths for re/up-skilling, remote work tools, and customized UI's for audio / visual impairments, fostering inclusivity and innovation. Q: Should AI use in recruitment be slowed due to potential bias? A: No. Despite biases, AI can be adjusted for diversity. Ensure proper procurement and training methods to mitigate bias. Q: How do we foster cultural inclusion in the AI age? A: Utilize GenAI for personalized learning, cultural training, and horizon planning with DE&I goals. 🔍 I had the opportunity of hosting an insightful panel discussion with my classmates on the crucial topic of Trust in AI! 🤖 In light of recent data from Edelman shared by Axios, revealing a decline in public trust towards AI technology and the companies behind it, our panel delved into the implications and potential solutions. The conversation highlighted the necessity for transparency, ethical considerations, and user empowerment in AI development. Key takeaways from our discussion: - Trust in AI companies globally has dropped to 53%, down from 61% five years ago. - Across political lines in the U.S., trust in AI is low, indicating a broader societal concern. - Developing countries show more acceptance of AI compared to developed ones, hinting at varying cultural perceptions. Our panel emphasized the importance of regulatory frameworks that meet public expectations while fostering innovation. There is considerable fervour surrounding the advancement of AI and its potential to transform the world in which we live and work. There comes a moment when we must pause and consider the effects all of this is having on individuals and society at large.  The Joseph Rowntree Foundation have done just this and are exploring the possibilities for AI to create public good. Their goal is to initiate conversations and bring together individuals from diverse fields to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about AI.   One such initiative has been to convene a panel of people from all walks of life who were tasked with engaging and deliberating on AI.   Based on their experiences, the panel formulated several recommendations that underscored the critical role of continuous public involvement in the development, adoption, and governance of AI.   1.
