What an honor to have heard, first-hand, from some of the world's most influential #productmanagement leaders who have pushed the frontiers of digital technology through user-centered, data-driven development. 💡 Needless to say, there were many takeaways, but here are some of the points that stood out to me the most ✍️: ✔️ Product management should not be weighed down by coordination. To be builders, we have to free up time for strategic planning. For instance, we can tap into new tools that truncate the efforts we put on ancillary tasks, some of which could have necessitated cross-functional synchronization and slowed down your plans. ✔️ We need not be overwhelmed by mounting user feedback, but rather embrace the utility of actionable insight into the louder message of the collective voice, with greater statistical power. There's a tool for that. ✔️ You can get lost in what can seem like a wave confusing opinions, or you could prioritize with intelligence, so as to capture impressions and wants from all directions. The latter approach, potentially facilitated by #AI, could yield better results in terms of shortening time-to-implementation, focusing on the most impactful, farther-reaching features. ✔️ User-friendly, analytical tools like Chisel can reduce the need to learn complex techniques before you can draw real value from the proven methods that lead to well-informed, smarter roadmapping. ✔️ Product Management may change because of AI, but the fundamentals won't change. AI will level the playing field so that PM professionals can focus on the irreplaceable human contribution for future-proof decision making. Mind the Product hosted "The future of product management: Insights from ProductTank San Francisco." They conclude the following: 1) AI will not take your job, but if you don't know how to use AI IN your job you will no longer be relevant 2) Treat AI as your coach (vs human replacement) 3) When you don't have experience, you have communication 4) Moving toward the ear of hyper-personalization Personally, we have been moving in this direction for a while. While the labels and sophistication has changed, the ability to learn, adjust, grow, & be agile (verb not the noun) is critical to be a product manager. In addition to this, soft skills in leadership and relationship development will always be important foundational skills for product managers. Great post on the evolving role of product managers from Fernando Albertorio! The translation layer between human and technical will always be an inflection point of value. I always felt #productmanagers have the role of understanding and translating the layman's needs of users into technical plans that could be executed. With the evolving means of execution (AI generating code, developing datasets & schemas), the role of translating user pains into well-articulated and technically described solutions becomes increasingly imperative.
