When you're playing against the highest level professionals...at a certain point the skill gap is very narrow and everyone has very similar skills, abilities, playbooks, etc...it comes down to who executes the simple things better, i.e. tackling, blocking, route running, throwing. The same applies to life outside of sports. In sales, we all (for the most part), are doing very similar tasks and have similar skillsets. The salesperson who is winning at a higher level is most likely the one who is more disciplined in their day, who manages time better, who completes their tasks, who overcomes the objections, who has planned out their week. Nothing crazy, just executing their job at a higher, more consistent level. Our condolences to the Leafs on being eliminated from the playoffs.    We aren’t experts on NHL hockey, but we do know a lot about media talent and definitely see a parallel for job seekers out there who are hustling to land their next role.    - When applying for a job, everyone who makes it to the playoffs has the right set of skills. If you’ve been shortlisted for a role you are up against similarly skilled candidates and much closer to the big win.    - The winning team usually takes more shots than the losing team = the more networking and more research you do to uncover the roles you are qualified for, the better your chances of a win.   - The winning team’s players work together and complement each other. This one comes down to the leader knowing how to run a line. You could be the best candidate from a skills standpoint, but not the right fit for the team. It happens.   - Competing in high stakes elimination rounds is exhausting and people get tired and injured. This is very true for job hunters too. Make sure you are resting, refuelling, and taking things in stride.    - The Leafs will enjoy playing golf now, while they continue to upgrade their skills and train to become even better. Spend time doing things that make you happy and invest the time to upskill.    - The Leafs never give up. Be resilient. You will almost surely win before the they do.
