Today I am having one of my quarterly strategy or "CEO" days All the more strategic jobs I try and do on a fairly regular basis - but put into one day dedicated for the purpose (one meeting snuck in, but I lived with it!) It was a chance to get a change of scene and: ✔ Review progress on my goals for the year and the last quarter, and see what needed tweaking ✔ Clarify my goals for next quarter, based on the overall strategic direction of the business ✔ Think about this quarter's marketing strategy and make a plan ✔ Review my website and LinkedIn profile and make some tweaks ✔ Review my networks, and think about which groups or individuals I need to connect or reconnect with I enjoy this part of my work, but can easily get distracted, so putting it into one day and getting out of the home office and spending the day at Freshmill Limited really helped. (as did the free cakes on "cake day" but I forgot to take a picture before I scoffed them!) From the start of my professional career in the early ‘00’s I had decided that my professional education would come from work and not another university, unless it was absolutely necessary. Every move I made from agency to agency & publisher to publisher was made with the idea of what more I can learn. Along the way I learned I liked working for small companies (<50ppl.) It didn’t matter if it was an ad agency, media publisher or business. This ultimately shaped my career path from wanting to lead a full service ad agency to starting my own growth agency. So in the winter of 2020, I formed my own business, Evolution Marketing, to do just that. From the start things serendipitously fell into place and in the four years I have been able to work continuously with some great companies, people & get my company going. Now, one of those OG’s, Stock & Barrel Gun Club, has grown up and it’s time for me to move on. So I turn to my LI network to help me find the next small business among the hunt/shoot space to help grow. The ideal start list of a company is one who is a few years old and could use the knowledge and advice from a 20 year marketing veteran to help build their strategy, process’ and evaluate the media path.
