We’re happy to have helped spread the word about quantum computing at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 this week in Las Vegas.  Our North American business development leader Yoan Mandari Mendomo discussed Multiverse’s work with the Bank of Canada with attendees during a session on quantum innovation. Yoan described how the Bank of Canada is using quantum-inspired algorithms from Multiverse to predict adoption rates of digital currencies. These algorithms can help financial analysts detect trends and predict outcomes with higher accuracy than traditional methods.  Yoan then joined a panel discussion regarding the importance of quantum companies collaborating in the global market across all sectors: finance, automotive, manufacturing and logistics. Motivating to see the UK bracing for the quantum technology impact. I would be interested to know if there are equivalent objectives in Germany. I can imagine having a dedicated Ausbildung in quantum technology, where students don't necessarily need to learn about the bits and pieces of quantum physics, but rather understand the technology behind it e.g. cryogenics, vacuum systems, laser diodes assembly...

In our recent paper we investigate the jamming attack in the physical broadcast channel (PBCH) of the fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) that conveys critical information of the cell called master information block (MIB). Since smart attack on PBCH is simply possible using the information of synchronization signal block (SSB) that is unencrypted during the initial access, this channel is one of the most effective choices from a jammer’s point of view. In this study, we propose a hypothesis test to detect the presence of a jamming attack in the PBCH block and we estimate the principal direction of the attacked PBCH demodulation reference signal (PBCH DMRS) that significantly deviates under that attack. Simulation results evaluate the proposed method in various aspects and prove its superiority over the recent competing methods. At Quantum.Tech, I shared how global enterprises are getting ready for quantum advantage. Joining distinguished panelists Clena Abuan, Zachary Dutton, Aparna Prabhakar, Vikram Sharma and expertly moderated by Karina Robinson, organisations are clearly ramping up their efforts. I was asked the key to HSBC's quantum success, to which I put it down to three things: 1. 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 - be deliberate about what you 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to achieve and be clear about the 𝘸𝘩𝘺. Set expectations early and define value outputs (hint: be honest and transparent about what can be achieved in the near term - don't hype). 2. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 - quantum expertise is a limited resource, but it is accessible through consultancies, technology partnerships, and academic collaborations. If you are truly committed, consider hiring a dedicated team of quantum scientists.     3. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗲𝘁- avoid conducting experiments in isolation. The more you collaborate to address real business problems with input from the beginning, the more impactful your proof of concepts will be. All of HSBC's strategic quantum use cases are backed by business sponsorship. Lastly, in the realm of quantum computing, there seem to be only two distinctly polarised camps for reasons unclear to me: 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 who support its development and 𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 who believe scalable fault-tolerance will never be achieved. Thus, a strong 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 is critical to anchor any quantum program. Without this, quantum progress will be at the mercy of shifting viewpoints.
