As we celebrate the 5th birthday 🎂 of EdCo LATAM Consulting, I had a think about five important learnings from the journey so far.   1.        Understanding and addressing partner needs is important. Whilst we work with partners in the same industry, each have different aims and objectives so we need to tailor our services and listen carefully to what success looks like for our partners. 2.        Building a team is challenging but very rewarding. At EdCo LATAM Consulting we have a great team and it is important to have the right team members working with each of our partners. Carefully matching skills set, experience and styles of working. This is vital and an area we are working hard on. 3.        Perseverance and resilience are key skills needed to build a business. This reminds me of a quote from Muhammad Ali which I think of regularly “The fight is won away from witnesses – behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights”. We get rejections / unanswered proposals - we keep going 4.        Successful relationships are developed through listening, understanding and taking action on feedback. Face to face meetings are the best way of really understanding partner needs. 5.        Innovation and reporting on market trends is becoming increasingly important to our business. In five short years, technological advancement and AI have had a big (mostly positive) impact on our industry.   A big thanks to everyone I have had the opportunity to meet and work with over the last 5 years – Here’s to the next five and I feel like we are just getting started 😊

Hiring your first employee is terrifying. They will set the tone for your company going forward. The wrong first hire will ruin you before you get started. I had the idea for FranShares nearly 8 years ago and spent the time to build myself as a founder, a leader in franchising, and waiting for the market to adopt to alternative investing. Missing on the first hire was not an option. We had over 1,000 applications for our Head of Growth position. I had our investors/advisors Daniel Rutberg and Moody Nashawaty, who had hired hundreds of marketers at MuteSix assist with the selection process because they knew how to identify real talent in this area. None of them were selected. I needed THE person. The person who had the experience building a startup. Knew marketing inside and out yet also was savvy in the world of finance. Who would also have to be a pillar for the culture of the company and passionate about what we were building. None of the applicants were who I needed. We tapped Mondo and Paola Castillo CRUSHED it! After one call, we knew Brandon Sellers was the guy. He had built his own agency from scratch, he had grown a startup from 1,000 users to over 300,000 users, he had a past life in finance at PWC. And he's one of the most likable people you'll meet. Two years later, he's overdelivered on everything he said he would do. Growing FranShares to over 40,000 investors on our waitlist. Being a mentor to our newer team members. Doing things completely unrelated to marketing. Bringing other great talent to the team. And so much more. Congratulations on your two years here Brandon, onward and upward we go together!

I’ve connected with so many new, lovely people since launching outbloom, and it dawned on me that some people won’t know me. Now, that feels strange as those who have worked with me know more about me than I’m sure they’d like to 😂. For those I’ve not met personally (and maybe those I have) here’s a bit more about me 👇 ☑️ I’ve worked agency side for the last 11 years, cutting my teeth in PPC. ☑️ Worked with, and managed paid search for some incredible brands such as Converse, New Look, Tommy Hilfiger, Aesop, Ralph Lauren, and Love Honey. ☑️ Been fortuitous enough to work with some of the most talented and kind people, many of which have become lifelong friends (one of which being my husband and another my business partner, Mark). ☑️ Had the amazing opportunity to launch and grow my previous agencies first regional UK office. Stepping away from PPC to focus on operations. ☑️ My professional passions are creating relationships, serving up work to be proud of, and empowering women to speak up (this includes myself).   Things I’ve Overcome 💯 Bringing my full self to work. I’m chatty and I ask a lot of questions, which before now I’ve been told isn’t professional or can make me sound dim. I think it’s the opposite. 💯 Almost a year ago today I was diagnosed with a lung tumour, which turned out to be a rare cancer. I had treatment and sprung back with the support of my amazing friends, family, and even clients. I feel stronger for it in every way.   Things I’m Working On 🫴 Do you know the famous Elle Woods quote ‘What, Like It’s Hard?’. Well, yes, it is hard and some days are harder than others; I’m working on maintaining resilience. Thankfully I have Mark to push me to toughen up when I need the most. 🫴 Finding time for myself. Like too many people, we work hard, long hours. I use that as an excuse to not be healthier. If I go on any more this risks becoming an autobiography, and no one wants that. I’ll sign off with a picture of me happy, healthy and celebrating my 2nd wedding anniversary last month.
