Stress isn’t “bad” but if your body is in a constant state of stress (eustress/distress), it burns out your adrenal system, creates inflammation, putting us at a higher risk for CVD, diabetes, cancer and some research suggests Alzheimer’s disease.
I burned out my adrenal system for allowing myself to be in a constant state of eustress with a little distress until around 40. I grinded non-stop, didn’t take off for weekends or vacations. I never relaxed. This isn’t worrying, which is “distress”. I haven’t worried like that in 10-15 years
Manage your stress. You longevity and health span depend on it. I measure my stress with a combination of my ŌURA ring and Apple Watch with the Athlytic app.
Over 1 year, I have significantly reduced my measured stress by improving sleep, consistent exercise, improved diet, taking real time off, learning how to relax with breathing, reading books, praying and basically, chilling more.
