In a pioneering move, the world’s leading green building certification bodies – UK-based BUILDING RESEARCH ESTABLISHMENT LIMITED (BRE), the U.S. U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) – have formed an alliance to create global cohesion in green building standards. Today, we’ve announced an industry-first alliance with Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and BRE to unlock the sustainable finance needed to decarbonize the built environment and demonstrate the critical role that verification and certification tools play in supporting ESG reporting. The alliance will raise awareness of the world’s top green building rating systems, BREEAM Official, Green Star and #LEED, in the real estate and finance sectors – communities which will play a key role in driving the change required to tackle the climate emergency head-on. Green leases are no new topic. Since EU sustainable finance regulations and other regulatory frameworks kicked in, Green (ESG) leases have become more and more common to use.
