An important read for all interventional echocardiographers DOI: 10.1093/ehjci/jeae086 The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) Scientific Initiatives Committee performed a global survey on radiation exposure in interventional echocardiography. The survey aimed to collect data on local practices for radioprotection in interventional echocardiography and to assess the awareness of echocardiography operators about radiation-related risks. It is a must read as  radioprotection devices are often underused by interventional echocardiographers, portending an increased radiation-related risk. International scientific societies working in the field should collaborate to endorse radioprotection training, promote reliable radiation dose assessment, and support the adoption of radioprotection shielding dedicated to interventional echocardiographers.

🚀 Excited to share the key findings from my latest research on The Future Needs of External Beam Radiotherapy in Portugal Until 2040, just published! We assessed the future need for external beam #radiotherapy (EBRT) in #Portugal through 2040. Using estimates from the IARC - International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization, our study projects the growing demand for timely and high-quality treatments, highlighting the need to plan ahead for EBRT resources and infrastructure. 📊 Key Findings: - An 18% increase in the need for EBRT courses by 2040, totalling around 34,000 courses. - 18 to 30 additional EBRT machines will be required to meet this demand. - Staffing needs will rise, requiring up to additional 46 radiation oncologists, 36 medical physicists, and 102 radiation therapists. Now deployed at the Clinical Research Center of Hôpital Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild in Paris, real-time Doppler holography of the retina is set to become a new standard for non-invasive monitoring of quantitative retinal and choroidal hemodynamic biomarkers. 👁 ❤️ The ‘Holodoppler’ programme (public funding #France2030) is a consortium comprising Lumibird Medical - Quantel Medical, Ellex & Optotek,Hôpital Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild, Hôpital national des Quinze-Vingts , and ESPCI Paris - PSL. 🎯 The aim is to develop a non-invasive medical device capable of quantitatively measuring ocular blood flow. This optical doppler using digital holography will make it possible to quantify ocular haemodynamics and improve diagnosis and monitoring of #glaucoma and #hypertension.
