Summer has arrived at the Cadogan Lounge. Changing throughout the year, our tree has now seen the four seasons. You can look back on previous ones in our stories today.
Adhering to our sustainability target of minimal waste - the tree was made using some materials from Paul’s own Cotswolds garden and this can be reused for future installations.
Visit the The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel to see the tree in full bloom.

Net Zero for hotels is mostly about its operations. Triple-glazed windows, which are good for keeping heating and cooling costs down, but a massive carbon emitter to manufacture. The new, more efficient mechanical systems they too, emit large amounts of carbon during fabrication, transportation, and installation.
Given that hotel operations use more energy than virtually any other type of building, including those for offices, retail, housing, and manufacturing—accounting for an estimated 1% of global carbon emissions...

Introducing Domescapes, a groundbreaking project in luxury glamping. Our geodesic domes, located in the heart of Tasmania's vineyards, redefine eco-luxury accommodations. A testament to innovative design and sustainability.
Overcoming the challenges of Tasmania’s Dome landscape development:🌴🌴🌴
Compared to the rest of Australia, Tasmania has a relatively cool climate, without the hot continental summers, and has four distinct seasons.
How do geodesic domes withstand harsh weather? Polycarbonate sheets are 250 times more impact-resistant than glass, making them extremely durable. Polycarbonate is a strong and flexible thermoplastic material that performs well in a temperature range of –40 degrees to +130 degrees. It can withstand all weather conditions including hail, storms and snow, and is UV-resistant ensuring a lifespan of up to 10 years.

Here is a sneak peek into the stunning #FrenchPolynesia hotel, “The Brando.” Take a moment to enjoy this clip showcasing a truly one-of-a-kind property. As an executive focused on sustainability in operations, and knowing what it takes to ensure compliance with LEED certifications (especially when around #beachfront property) this exceptional location resonated with me deeply.
This stunning atoll, just north of #Tahiti, served as a revered gathering place for Polynesian kings for generations. In the 1960s, it captured the heart of Marlon Brando during the filming of "Mutiny on the Bounty." He and his co-star, who became his wife, envisioned a sanctuary where tourism, science, and community involvement could protect the island's pristine beauty.
Today, their vision lives on through The Brando Resort and the Tetiaroa Society, a nonprofit focused on environmental and cultural preservation. Funded 70% by the resort, the Society supports initiatives such as the conservation of green sea turtles and the #BlueClimateInitiative, a significant #UNOcean Decade project, with help from international researchers.
Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z, and Barack Obama might not have chosen #Tetiaroa primarily for its #sustainability, but the island's #luxury is undeniably green. The exclusive resort offers ocean-view villas with private infinity pools, a luxurious spa, fine dining, and impeccable five-star service, all supported by sustainable practices like solar energy, seawater air conditioning, a permaculture garden, robust recycling programs, and #LEEDPlatinum certified infrastructure.
Have you visited this exclusive resort? How about others you think are of the same caliber? Let's get a conversation started below! 🌍✈️

Preserving Paradise: The Crucial Role of Ecological Balance in Hotel Construction
In the pursuit of creating luxurious retreats amidst nature's bounty, the importance of maintaining ecological balance cannot be overstated. Building a hotel in a natural surrounding requires a delicate dance between human comfort and environmental preservation.
First and foremost, respecting the local ecosystem ensures the survival of diverse flora and fauna. By conducting thorough environmental impact assessments, hotel developers can identify and mitigate potential harm to native species. This proactive approach prevents the disruption of breeding grounds, migration routes, and feeding habitats, safeguarding the delicate balance that sustains the local ecosystem.
Furthermore, incorporating sustainable construction practices minimizes the ecological footprint. Using eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient technologies not only reduces the immediate impact of hotel construction but also ensures long-term sustainability. Harnessing renewable energy sources and implementing water conservation measures are essential steps in maintaining the delicate equilibrium of the natural environment.
Preserving scenic landscapes is equally vital. Thoughtful architecture and strategic positioning of hotel structures can minimize visual disruption and seamlessly integrate with the surroundings. This not only enhances the guest experience but also contributes to the preservation of the natural beauty that attracts visitors in the first place.
Engaging with local communities is a key aspect of ecological balance. Collaboration with indigenous people and nearby residents ensures that the hotel project aligns with the cultural and environmental values of the region. Additionally, involving the local community in conservation efforts fosters a sense of shared responsibility and encourages sustainable practices beyond the hotel premises.
In conclusion, the importance of maintaining ecological balance when building a hotel in a natural setting cannot be underestimated. It extends far beyond regulatory compliance. It is an ethical imperative and a strategic investment in the longevity of the destination's appeal. By prioritizing environmental preservation, hotels can coexist harmoniously with nature, offering guests an immersive and sustainable experience while safeguarding the precious ecosystems that make these locations unique.
