I’m often asked about work-life flexibility. How we show up matters. When we bring our best selves, we excel in our #careers and in our personal lives. We can be pulled in many directions each day and it’s important to know what motivates you. I’ve found the first step is establishing your “non-negotiables.” #CareerAdvice

Such great advice, Paul!! #pwcproud

Paul - Your comments resonate with me. The term ‘flexibility’ when speaking about the interaction of work and life makes a lot more sense than ‘balance’. Balance implies an equilibrium between work and life responsibilities and we know that is really hard to achieve. With my teams, I’ve encouraged them to think in terms of work-life quality and to decide what works best for them. Thinking about things in terms of trying to maintain balance can be stressful. Stay well.

So glad you said this, Paul! I am a big fan of the value equation V = e * t. Value = energy * time. Knowing and then doing “what fills you up,” as you state in this video, makes “e” a higher positive number in that equation. Therefore, honoring non-negotiables directly increases the value one brings to all the things they choose to do in their life, including work. PS - one or more sessions with a leadership coach is a great, safe, refreshing and creative way to discover what your personal non-negotiables are, come up with ideas of how to honor them, and hold YOURSELF accountable to being at your best!

To leave this earth better than it was when we arrived must be the only motivation. Not family, money, success, fame, fortune
