ŌURA will now "be able to gauge how 'old' your heart is" TechCrunch. Today, we are announcing two new health features for members: Cardiovascular Age (CVA) and Cardio Capacity. The first new metric CVA is designed so users can understand their cardiovascular age in relation to their chronological age. It “Gauges CVA by analyzing age-related observations within a photoplethysmograph (PPG) signal, which carries information about estimated arterial stiffness and pulse wave velocity (PWV).” said Shyamal Patel. The second metric Cardio Capacity is based on estimating VO2 Max, “A measure of the maximum amount of oxygen an individual can use during intense or effortful exercise. In simple terms, the better a person’s cardio capacity, the healthier their cardiovascular system (and organs) will likely be across a lifetime.” 2 year effort by our team to build these innovative features for ŌURA members. Congrats to ŌURA for the two new heart health features they will be rolling out later this month. First is Cardiovascular Age, which is based on an estimation of one's arterial stiffness. Oura is using pulse wave velocity measurements, similar to the Withings vascular age feature, for this new feature. The second feature is called Cardio Capacity. This metric is merely a VO2 Max estimate. The user will need to complete a 6-minute walking test (walk as fast as you can). These sub-maximal VO2 Max tests usually yield lower results than you would see from a professional run test. #weaarables #hearthealth #healthandwellness
