Reminder that the #IESS market change goes live today, as noted via WattClarity here (with more to come): https://lnkd.in/gdzUz2FU IESS (and hybrid Solar + Storage) will be discussed at the Clean Energy Council's #ALSSSS2024 sessions tomorrow (Tue 4th) and Wed 5th June in Brisbane. In particular, looking forward to: 1) Former team member and WattClarity author Marcelle Gannon talking (Tuesday afternoon) about how reality sometimes does not match what the Excel model initially showed; and 2) Overwatch Energy Operations Manager Ellise Janetzki (Harmer) talking about these hybrid things ... the power stations of the future. Will we see you there?

Do we know whether hybrid plants have opted for aggregated dispatch conformance, and if so which? This is a HUGE change to NEM settlement, because it effectively allows batteries to charge for free when they are co-located with a generator that is being curtailed. And yet, this feature has scarcely been recognized, with the IESS rule change seen as a technical rather than economic reform. I certainly favour batteries being able to charge at their local marginal price (which is, in effect, what is happening here). Access reform would extend this right to ALL storage, whether or not they are co-located with generation.

Solar storage shift demands an unbiased re-evaluation.
