Quick Friday post… I’m lucky enough to have been invited to the MRS Awards on Monday, thanks to the generosity of Jim and Michel at OvationMR. I’m very excited, and also a tad nervous… …I’ve never been before. For those of you who are experienced hands at this event, and others like it, have you any advice about how to navigate and get the most from it? Asking for a friend (obvs)?! 😉 #insights #mrx #marketresearch #marketingresearch

Actually further advice. If you win an award don't lose all control and hug the compere. I can confirm that they won't be expecting it.

Already here, Paul… got in this morning and even managed a tour of St. Paul’s Cathedral today (stunning, by the way). Gonna spend the weekend being a tourist in your beautiful city… then off to the MRS program on Monday. Like you, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jim Whaley for the invitation to the event. Should be an incredible evening! And your ‘how to network at an event’ question is total bullsh**… it’s WE who should be taking lessons from YOU, my friend! 😉

Wear comfortable shoes and a big smile

My top tip to make sure you see the people you really want to see is to take a photo of the table plans and then during the dinner, find time to pop to the relevant tables to say hello. There are so many people there you almost certainly just won’t bump into the people you would love to catch up with. Hope to see you there!!

Personally, I get my nails done and put flat shoes in my bag - not sure how useful you will find this advice Paul Griffiths.

Smashing post Paul Griffiths and from all evidence here as to the current state of your popularity, might I suggest you also deploy a wise old scuba diving trick to conserve oxygen by staying in one place and letting the fish swim to you! We are getting ready to fly over today and can’t wait to see you and Richard Heath, Finn Raben, Tariq Mirza, Daniel Fazekas, phyllis macfarlane, Steve Henke, Lisa Henke, and Michel Jones at table 27, front and center of the action on Monday!

Paul Griffiths I thought you were joking that you'd never been. Looking forward to seeing you there. I think there's a triple jeopardy to warn you of a) finding it hard to recognise insight people when in black tie attire vs. smart casual combined with b) being used to seeing most people on Zoom vs. IRL c) combined with on tap beer/ wine. Good luck!
