Motivation Monday is finding a company that values investing time in their employee's education and training! Thank you, Selective Insurance, for allowing me to participate in the Quest for Success class in May at our New Jersey Regional Office and continue on the virtual meetings this month. This was a fantastic opportunity to dig into learning what I can do to be the best PLMS for my agencies and my partnerships. Thank you, Matthew ONeill, for guiding us through this successful program. You were amazing!

Always keep learning and growing.
I saw this image in an agency owners group and it really got me thinking. This year will mark 13 years since I was recruited into this industry. Starting out as an “independent” contractor representing one company made learning easier. However, I was only learning what that one company had to offer and took my leadership’s word as the gospel. 🤦🏼♂️ When I stepped away from being a “carrier rep” I was asked, on two separate occasions by two different leaders “What are you going to do when it doesn’t work out?” Talk about having feelings of doubt…I had no really elaborate plans in place, I just knew I wanted to be able to help my current customers in more way than I was able to as a carrier rep. In 2018, I took the leap and created Integrity Lifestyle Benefits LLC and it’s been quite a ride. Many relationships lost and gained, several individuals who have helped in one way or another but have moved on. I’m thankful for it all. Over the past 18 months or so, I’ve finally found my stride as an independent agency owner. I have great like minded team who, like myself aren’t swayed by the shiny objects that some companies throw in front of us. We are able to truly do what is in our clients best interest and be motivated by a trip or a bonus. We are committed to continuing our journey of learning and growing so we can always do our best for those who trust us with their insurance needs. Zig Ziglar was right about a lot of things, two of which are; “Education ends but learning does not” “You can have anything in life just as long as you help enough other people get what they want.”

It's time we talked insurance, and no, we don't mean the gecko. We're talking about all the types of insurance your climate tech startup will need (by law in some instances) to hire employees, lease a space, conduct operations, process transactions, and raise capital. From understanding your insurance needs to finding a great insurance broker, putting them to work, renewing policies, and more, insurance is a necessary element of any business. This is a lesson you won't want to miss, so let's dig in. "You should've Googled it. Everything now is on Google." I vividly recall an interview where one of the panelists asked me what I know about Revenue Management - a topic I was not familiar with outside my nonlife insurance industry expertise. In that moment, I relied solely on surface-level information from a LinkedIn post I had seen before clicking "Easy Apply." I realized afterward that my response lacked substance, simply repeating job descriptions without genuine understanding. Reflecting on that moment, I realized the power of resourcefulness in navigating corporate challenges. In today's world, information is abundant, accessible at our fingertips. Whether it's mastering a new skill or understanding different industries, a lot of platforms serve as a storage of knowledge. But beyond merely skimming the surface, true growth lies in the depth of understanding. My experience underscores the importance of blending resourcefulness with depth. While these platforms provided a starting point, deeper comprehension requires effort - study, mentorship, and hands-on experience. It's about transforming information into wisdom, insight into action. Just like my manager always tells me, 'Step up, Ame'. So, to my fellow professionals navigating the corporate world, remember: while Google (or other learning platforms) can offer a lot, true mastery comes from understanding, not just repeating. Let's stay curious, keep learning, and embrace every opportunity to grow. P.S. This is the first photo I took in our office — a reflection to end this week full of tasks and challenges.

🌟🌟🌟 Ever thought about the distinction between observing from the sidelines and actively participating in your career growth? In our industry, it's not uncommon for adjusters to acquire licenses and show up for assignments, claiming to know the job inside out. However, approaching this profession with the wrong mindset can lead to challenges. Let's shed light on two crucial aspects often overlooked: 1. More Than Just a License: Becoming an adjuster is more than just obtaining a license; it's about adopting the role of a professional guide and educator during people's most challenging times. 2. Not as Easy as It Appears: Contrary to appearances, this profession isn't as straightforward as some may make it seem. It requires dedication, continuous learning, and perseverance. 💡 Becoming an adjuster goes beyond a license and quick financial gains. It's a commitment to professionalism, guiding individuals during their toughest moments. 💼✨ Consider this – are you prepared to be the guiding light, helping individuals reclaim their normal lives after disaster strikes? 🔍 So, what does it take to be a good adjuster? 🔍1️⃣ Proper Training: Invest in good training to equip yourself with essential skills. It's the key to mastering the complexities of adjusting, ensuring you're well-prepared for any challenge. 🔍 2️⃣ Mentorship: A mentor can be a game-changer. Engage in discussions, share experiences, and build meaningful connections that enhance your professional journey. 🔍4️⃣ Network: Build a strong professional network by connecting with industry experts. Attend events, conferences, and actively participate to open doors to opportunities and continuous learning. Did you know that the first step to becoming a superstar in the adjusting world is getting certified? It's like having a golden key that unlocks endless opportunities. Being certified isn't just a fancy title – it's your ticket to getting noticed and hired by top firms. Think of it this way: Would you trust someone without a driver's license to drive your car? Most agents are afraid of training their team members for fear that they are going to leave. But what if you don't train them and they decide to stay? Now you have a team member that is underperforming and draining your agency's resources and potential. Train your team members and improve their performance, giving them a career path and new challenges, and they are much less likely to leave. To learn how to train your team to improve their performance, join our Insurance Agency Group Coaching Program where we discuss this topic and many more in great detail.
