Thank you, Mindy Capaldo, AAI, ACSR, AIAM, AISM, and Towne Insurance Agency, for having me on Wednesday. We had a successful Lunch & Learn with the Personal Lines Insurance Team and Summer Interns. It's a pleasure to talk to everyone from all stages of their career in the insurance field. It's nice to learn from seasoned professionals and share some tips and tricks with each other. Most of all, my favorite is discussing how Selective can help uniquely insure their client's assets. We love to help our agents understand the value of risk assessment and help them be proactive, not reactive when insurance matters the most! #Selective #Insurance #PersonalLines #BeUniquelyInsured Bret Patterson ANNETTE WINSTON

WHY INSURANCE? 🏃🏻♂️ Challenges, challenges, challenges – Insurance sounds very boring but it is the clear opposite. The #insurance industry is facing various challenges and developments at the same time. Just to name a few: The last years were marked by low interest rates, now #IFRS17 is changing a lot. New regulatory requirements come up every year. At the same time the insurance clients seek for new ways of interaction via digital channels or new products to reflect new risks (e.g., cyber, elderly care, discontinuous professional biographies). I‘m totally convinced this will never change. 🤝 Trust – Policyholders trust in their insurers that in case of a claim they have somehow a backup to pay the usually high amounts or support covering livelihood. People pay premiums in the expectation to receive an adequate pension when retiring decades later. An insurance company is not a speed boat, it‘s more like a tanker: Decisions need to be thought through as you can regularly observe their impact only after a couple of years. At the same time an increased quality expectation exists for our work: We as auditors support policyholders‘ #trust by our critical view and support the regulators in their oversight role. 👨🏼💻 Various #audit topics – The insurance industry combines a couple of areas that I‘m interested in: Accounting, economics, IT, mathematics and law. I don‘t know any other industry that touches so many different areas from an audit perspective. Although you are working with a lot of specialists you need to have a clear understanding of all this different areas. 🌎 Small world – The insurance industry is a small community. You always meet (at least) twice in your professional career. Within a Big4 network we are a very specialized team with a very clear industry focus, so you get to know your community very well – even on international level. ⛔️ What I miss – Sometimes I miss the physical product as we cannot walk through gigantic manufacturing plants and watch the production of a car, machine or building. How did I come into insurance? By chance. During a recruiting event at KPMG Region Süd in fall 2009 I talked to Katja who then offered me an internship in the insurance sector. The internship was my first touchpoint to the insurance industry and now lasts for my whole professional career. Thanks to Martin Berger, Dr. Frank Ellenbürger and Rainer Pfaffenzeller (to name just three) who kept me in the industry.

The Insurance Apprentice is a reality-styled series competition where contestants are filmed over a one-week period. The ultimate aim of The Insurance Apprentice is to harness skills, attract more people to the insurance industry, and educate the wider world about insurance. More importantly, however, it gives young people a platform to showcase their skills and knowledge, nurturing these young minds to be the leaders of tomorrow; the leaders that we so desperately need. So why join? The exposure provided by The Insurance Apprentice enhances a person’s credibility as an insurance professional. It gives people the opportunity to challenge themselves, to grow on a personal and professional level, and showcase what they are all about so that they can thrive within their own companies. Whether you’re the WINNER, in the TOP 6, or in the TOP 10, there are prizes, cash, and plenty to be won! During my Internship at ubAdvocate Sir Jeevan Prakash AOR SUPREME COURT has beautifully explained the Wayouts to claim compensation from the Insurance Company to indemnify the loss caused due to COVID 19 PANDEMIC. The COVID-19 pandemic was responsible for shattering stronger economics but it especially impacted the working of businesses across the globe. The impact on business supply chain operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be unprecedented in terms of scale and complexity, and at the same time its impact will be inherently difficult to estimate. But your insurance may already have a key means of recouping the losses you've suffered as a consequence of the coronavirus outbreak: business interruption (BI) insurance. But many insurers are moving quickly to discourage policyholders from exercising their rights. Even if your insurer has denied your business interruption claim and refused to pay anything, you may be entitled to compensation. https://lnkd.in/gZVRJ6WP #supremecourt #legal

Insurance Executive | Former President at Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group | Industry Practices, Commercial Insurance | Change Management | Leadership
As we continue exploring diverse paths during Insurance Careers Month, let's focus on the actuarial profession —a profession where passion for numbers translates into a rewarding and impactful career. Actuaries are the financial forecasters of the insurance world, specialists who apply mathematical theories and statistical expertise to assess risks. They turn complex data into clear insights on pricing risk exposures and reserves needed for future losses. Insurance actuaries look at the past to help plan for future losses, while keeping the insurance company financially sound to protect both the insurer and the insured. At the core of their work, a Berkley Mid-Atlantic Insurance Actuary balances risks with precision, ensuring our commitment to financial responsibility is as steadfast as our promise to customers. If your strength lies in analytical thinking and the challenge of quantifying risks drives you, actuarial work in insurance can offer a fulfilling path. Joining the ranks of actuaries means stepping into a world where every dataset tells a story, and your analysis paints the picture of tomorrow's insurance strategies. It's a career that offers the satisfaction of seeing your numerical skills translate directly into real-world solutions. If the actuarial field calls to you—then Berkley Mid-Atlantic has a place for you. Let's calculate a brighter future together. Explore the actuarial opportunities we have to offer at Berkley.
