In celebration of National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) 2024, we confirm our commitment to partnering with providers in offering fertility patients a gentler, less painful* and more convenient tubal patency ultrasound diagnostic option (an alternative to HSG) as they seek out answers in their fertility journey.   We recently had the chance to sit with Jenny Taylor and listen to her compelling testimonial where she shared her experiences of undergoing tubal patency exams, including the HyFoSy Procedure with ExEm® Foam and HSG. Why #standardcytogenetics is still in demand? 🔬 classical reciprocal translocation VS insertion There are two abnormal chromosomes in adult karyotype with reproductive failure. As a rule a reciprocal translocation is suspected. In a #reciprocaltranslocation two different chromosomes exchange segments with each other. But what if only one interior band is changed on each chromosome and the distal regions of the both chromosomes are visibly identical and we can’t differ it in GTG banding. Of course, we all know a number of similar bands/groups of bands on different chromosomes and accept challenges to deal with them. Yes, in our case we had to differentiate: classical reciprocal translocation t(1;3)(q42;q27) and interchromosomal insertion ins(3;1)(q27;q42.1q42.3). #Chromosomalinsertion occurs when a segment of one chromosome is translocated and inserted into an interstitial region of another non-homologous chromosome (interchromosomal insertion), or into a different region of the same chromosome (intrachromosomal insertion). Here is the translocation t(1;3) that was subsequently confirmed by FISH.  Now we are looking forward to the prenatal diagnostics and believe in the successful completion of the next pregnancy for the family. 📣📣 Exciting news! We have a new Scientific Publication: “Non-invasive cell-free DNA-based approach for the diagnosis of clinical miscarriage: A retrospective study”, published in BJOG. Miscarriages occur in approximately 15% of pregnant women. The physician may decide to perform genetic tests to determine whether the miscarriage was chromosomal in origin; however, in a high percentage of cases, it is not possible because the abortive remains are not available/poor quality. Having tissue-independent techniques that can provide reliable information that may help in the decision-making process about future pregnancies is a significant advancement that can help to improve reproductive advice.
