AI: Product or Feature ? I was listening to the Wired podcast a couple of days ago, and they said something that really changed the way I think about AI. Today, many companies are incorporating AI into their products, like Samsung with the S24 Ultra, and Apple, which recently launched AI features in their new operating system (iOS 18) at WWDC. This raises an interesting point: AI is a feature, not a product. This question—whether AI is a feature or a product—is being debated by many tech enthusiasts. For me, AI is truly a feature, not a product. Let's take an example: most of us have heard of and used Clubhouse during the pandemic. It saw a meteoric rise to success as a platform for live audio stage events that would disappear after the session ended. Clubhouse skyrocketed to the top of the app store, with everyone using it, including tech giants like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Fast forward a year or two, companies such as Spotify, Discord, Slack, and Twitter integrated this live audio feature into their apps. What was once a standalone app became a feature within these larger platforms. This brings up an important question: was Clubhouse a feature or a product? Generally, it became a feature. Now, imagine going to ChatGPT and using its services—that is a product. But now, Apple and Google have integrated AI into their phones as a feature. So the question remains: is AI a product or a feature? For me, it is a feature until we see a dedicated product that is entirely built around AI capabilities and cannot function without it. Domo’s unveiled its highly-anticipated 11th edition of Data Never Sleeps. Some key highlights include: 🔺 AI-driven platforms such as ChatGPT are reshaping the ways we work, communicate and create, with users submitting 6,944 prompts every minute. 🔺 However, users haven’t forsaken their search engine habits, as searches on Google total more than 6.3 million every minute (up from 5.9 million a year ago). 🔺 After a dip in engagement last year, X (formerly Twitter) now sees 360,000 posts from users every minute, up from 347,000 in Data Never Sleeps 2022.  🔺 Spotify users stream 24,000 hours of music, including 69,444 Taylor Swift songs. 🔺 Instagram users are sending over 694,000 reels via direct message every sixty seconds. 🔺 And the world of streaming continues to dominate, as collective viewers watch more than 40 years of streaming content every single minute. Some users claim they already saw this feature from the #app, calling it "Spotify's ChatGPT," with the feature able to create a new collection of songs, based on what they requested. It was regarded that this feature is currently under testing, with earlier reports finding it on Spotify's code, but has not yet confirmed it publicly. A TikTok user posted a short clip and claimed that they "Randomly discovered Spotify's ChatGPT," and this detailed the latest feature in the app that centers on #artificial intelligence
