New Post: Peloton is dying slower than the market anticipated - https://lnkd.in/dy48FgR4 - Peloton's numbers show that rising prices and cutting staff can help slow their losses, but the business is still shrinking. Peloton made slightly more money from both business segments—subscribers and hardware sales—than in the same quarter last year, but the revenue growth masks their shrinking market. — Read the rest The post Peloton is dying slower than the market anticipated appeared first on Boing Boing. - #news #business #world -------------------------------------------------- #MagicTheGathering #macos #mac #tradingcardgame - SellingIt(.)org ---> https://sellingit.org

For the past couple of days, I have consoled and supported my previous colleagues as they have “unclipped” for their last ride with Peloton. I feel a responsibility to advocate for some of the feelings that can’t be expressed due to the social customs and expectations of the saturated job market they face as they pursue their next opportunities. During the pandemic, Peloton exploded, and for anyone who was there, you remember how amazing the experience was. We grew so fast! I remember an all-hands meeting a team member described us as a “6-foot 5th grader trying to learn.” The pandemic tapered off, and manufacturing, logistics, and financial challenges soon arose. During this existential crisis, upper management became more concerned with self-preservation rather than navigating obstacles and making decisions that could mitigate loss. Barry Mcarthy once said, “Fast is as slow as we go.” I guess we weren’t fast enough. To all hiring managers: Understand that the individuals parting ways with Peloton who are applying to your posted position, they have endured change and stress to the degree that few others will experience in their entire careers. They have most likely been working a combination of 2 or more roles that went beyond the scope of their original job description. These are badass people that you should at least consider for an interview.

Redeem rewards for things you actually want and love. Which is what I just did for a Peloton during Amazon prime days. I must say, it's pretty cool to use accumulated points earned from awards, birthdays, work anniversaries and recognition within the Bucketlist Rewards and Recognition platform. I also leveraged an internal perk we have here that provides us a budget for a Bucketlist Day, allowing us to use it towards anything on our own Bucketlist. Last year I tailgated at a Buffalo Bills game. :) If you're on the hunt for a rewards and recognition partner, then let's chat. or If you're a fellow Peloton Interactive rider who wants to connect to share profiles, hit me up. Let's ride. #peloton #recognition #rewards #awards #hr #humanresources #culture

THIS is the reason that Peloton hasn't ~completely~ failed... We all know Peloton has had some serious brand struggles. The company shares are dirt cheap. I haven't seen a positive headline about them in ages. And please let's not forget the unfortunate SATC cameo ft. Mr. Big. Tough. But they're still kicking. And here's why: Personal. Branding. As a Peloton user, the instructors are the only reason I keep coming back. Instructors have created their own communities and personal hashtags. Their personal brands create and grow the 'Peloton Community'. THEY are what makes the brand special. Now, who's to say how long the company can survive... But I fully believe that Peloton is still here because they allow employees to: ✨ Thrive and engage with the community in their own unique ways ✨ At the end of the day, people buy from people. Not brands. Am I crazy? Or is there something else keeping them afloat?

Remember when everyone wrote articles on what the #Barbie movie could teach us about marketing, business, and creativity? I expect we'll see numerous takes today on what #Peloton's current challenges can teach us about business pitfalls. I don’t want to join the "let’s kick #Peloton while they're down" bandwagon, but there is a vital lesson to be learned here: market dominance isn't forever. In the wake of the pandemic, Peloton Interactive surged to become a household name, capitalizing on the unprecedented demand for at-home fitness solutions. Yet, the recent announcement of their CEO stepping down amid significant restructuring and workforce reduction serves as a stark reminder that success in business is never guaranteed, even with considerable market share. https://lnkd.in/gDwqhRJq The #Peloton story emphasizes a critical lesson for all brands: the importance of adaptability. The market conditions that fuel rapid growth, like those during the pandemic for Peloton, can shift abruptly. For businesses, especially those experiencing a sudden surge in popularity, the challenge lies in navigating the delicate balance between effective scaling and overextension. Emerging brands or market disruptors face a pivotal question: should you expand to become a behemoth, or is there greater value in maintaining a niche presence? #Peloton's experience suggests that other brands, regardless of their industry, might benefit from a strategic balance - leveraging core strengths while remaining agile enough to adapt to changing market dynamics. As companies expand, they must continuously innovate and maintain a strong connection with their customer base, adjusting not just to scale but also to the evolving consumer behaviors and preferences. The transition from being trendy to becoming a lasting preference requires thoughtful strategy and proactive adaptation. For brands operating in dynamic markets, let this be a reminder: securing market share is merely the beginning. Sustaining success is about agility, deep customer insights, and the courage to refine - or even completely reinvent - your approach as circumstances evolve. #BusinessStrategy #Peloton #BusinessGrowth

I recently sat down with me to ask myself a few tough questions. I'd like to thank myself and my team for taking the time. I hope you find it helpful. Q: How do you do it? A: The trick is to use your forefinger to cover the area where your 2 thumbs are bent together to look like 1, then when you move one hand, it looks like your thumb splits in half. Q: What would you tell someone trying to break into the business? A: Depending on the business, there's probably cameras, so be careful. Q: What can we expect from you in 2024? A: Finally paying off my Peloton and probably some tasteful nudes. Q: Are you thirsty? A: Very. Q: Why did it take you so long to watch The Sopranos? A: What are you a cop? #advertising #interview #closeupmagic #helpfulcontent

Peloton personally saved me during the pandemic. A few years later, Peloton is undergoing significant changes, including the departure of CEO Barry McCarthy and a reduction of approximately 400 employees, or 15% of its workforce. This restructuring involves closing retail showrooms and shifting international operations. McCarthy, who took over from co-founder John Foley in 2022, will be succeeded temporarily by Board Chair Karen Boone and Director Chris Bruzzo. They will transition leadership to a new CEO as Peloton seeks to stabilize its financial situation. Despite efforts to diversify through partnerships and content expansion, Peloton faces skepticism from Wall Street, with shares dropping 16% following the announcement. #Peloton #LeadershipChange #Layoffs #Restructuring #BusinessNews #FitnessTech #CEOTransition #FinancialStability https://lnkd.in/gq7eZ5hW

Data-Driven Lifecycle Marketing Expert | Strategic Visionary for Enhanced Customer Engagement and Success
For those that are keeping tabs, I have entered the "getting back on the Peloton" phase of being laid off. Peloton has a feature where you can watch Netflix while riding so I've been watching White Collar, which is a show about attractive people solving white collar mysteries. Somehow it's motivating. I did go through a "try to recreate my favorite fast-food dipping sauce recipes" phase but...we don't need to talk about that. I've actually had a handful of interviews with some pretty cool companies over the past few weeks. It made me think about what kind of interviewer I was and what kind of interviewee I am. I used to think I was a bad interviewer because all I ever really wanted to do was have a conversation instead of the standard question -> answer volley. As I interview for new roles I realized that you can learn way more about someone in 30 minutes by having a conversation rather than asking and/or answering questions. I didn't think I would be jumping back in this quickly but there are a lot of pretty interesting opportunities out there that I couldn't ignore. Plus I just like talking to people about their orgs and how they work. So if you are doing something awesome and want to tell someone about it, I'm your guy! I am missing my Intuit Mailchimp peeps though, who are crushing it every day. Keep texting and telling me what's going on in your world! I love getting them.

Read this article. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the words and actions of Peloton's CEO. This is one of my favorite quotes from the article. "If you're running your business so poorly that you have to lay off more than a small number of employees, you should probably be one of the people who stops getting a paycheck." #Layoffs #Peloton #CEO #Business
