When asked about her greatest learnings in 2023, she explained the following: "It's not the what, but the who,” states author Jim Collins. I started a business while learning the business. By trade I’m a nurse practitioner and quickly turned entrepreneur, or as I like to refer to my role as a "nursepreneur." My first 3 years was learning to grow my business, or as I like to compare it to building a plane while flying it. This business is fast paced, learning as we grow, and making decisions quickly and in the moment. In our first years, I hired employees with good experience, drive and personalities, but I quickly learned they were not in the right seats on the plane. This year, I made adjustments to our team by letting some go, hiring new, and changing roles of current employees. This has provided greater productivity and improved results by having the right employees in the right seats. In the new year, I hope to fly this plane with less turbulences and improved experiences as it’s always a new flight with growth. #momentumbrands #leadershipspotlight #clientspotlight #fractionalcmo

A group of friends started a company. They grew fast thanks to creativity. No corporate gibberish, dress codes, and strict rules. But then a few more people joined. They got into a leadership crisis. We started connective3 in Oct 2019, a small team of of 8 people, 5 months before the first lockdown. During the lockdown period Netflix launched ‘The Last Dance’ a show focussed on Michael Jordan and the glory days of the Chicago Bulls. (I know a lot of people watched it, I was obsessed as a teenager and loved every minute) One of the principles that came out of it was ‘Winning as a Team’. I’ve spent many years around agencies and one thing I hate is teams pointing the finger at other teams. They’re not as valuable. They have it easier. They’re smaller, less significant or not as qualified. It’s truly toxic and the most effective way to throttle growth and success of the business. We’re not all the same, we bring different skills, experience and priorities to the workplace. The key is to use teams and people in the right areas. My role as CEO is to recognise these different skills and experience but more importantly to promote and champion the value they bring to the business and achieving the end goal. I’m not perfect and fail on occasion, but that’s how you win as a team, that’s how you give yourself the best chance of achieving your business goals. #leadership #agencysuccess
