Earlier today, Nathaniel and Jeremy Hopping from Spokeskids Jr. joined us on Good Day Columbus to share the story of how one of our original kids rides started, and more on the Pelotonia Kids program as the next three events kick off in July! 🚲💚 Years ago, 5-year-old Nathaniel had the idea of creating a kids ride after seeing his dad, Jeremy who is a 16x Rider, cross the finish line at Pelotonia Ride Weekend. As a first grader, Nathaniel started SpokesKIDS Jr. in 2016. Now a 14-year-old, Nathaniel is planning the 8th SpokesKIDS Jr. ride plus expanding his Pelotonia impact as a First-Year Rider riding the 20-mile route in Ride Weekend 2024! In collaboration with the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute, 100% of Pelotonia Kids participant-raised funds go directly to pediatric cancer research at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Check out the full TV segment from WSYX ABC 6 to learn more about SpokesKIDS Jr. and the Pelotonia Kids program. 🎥 https://bit.ly/4eG5zxY

Today is International Childhood Cancer Day and being a childhood cancer survivor myself, it important to highlight days like today. Every year more than 400,000 children and adolescents below 20 years old are diagnosed with cancer. The survival rate depends on the region with 80% survival in high-income countries but as low as 20% in middle and low income countries. Founded by Childhood Cancer International in 2002, #ICCD spotlights the need for more equitable access to treatment and care for all children with cancer, everywhere; together we can eliminate all pain and suffering for children fighting cancer. #Morethan4 #GoGold #Fightlikeakid

As we begin this new era as the Fanconi Cancer Foundation, it's amazing to see the incredible strides we've made over the past 35 years. From once viewing Fanconi anemia (FA) as a childhood blood disease to understanding its complexities as a lifelong DNA repair disorder and cancer-susceptibility disease, our evolution has been remarkable. Here is a snapshot of our achievements: 🔬 Discovering and identifying 23 FA genes. 💪 Achieving a 95% success rate in transplants at FA centers. 🌱 Supporting a thriving community of adults with FA. 🔍 Understanding the link between FA and cancer. Our success has led us to our next challenge: cancer. But we're prepared. None of this progress would have been possible without the unwavering support of our researchers, donors, families, clinicians, staff, and volunteers. As we share our Impact Report, we're celebrating past victories and charting our course for the future. This document serves as your roadmap, highlighting major milestones, our history, inspirational stories, progress in 2023, future focus, upcoming research projects, and a heartfelt thank you. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Together, let's continue to write the next chapter—one filled with hope, determination, and progress. https://shorturl.at/afqH0 #FanconiCancerFoundation #35YearsOfProgress
