Super grateful to Miranda Anthistle & Global News for having me on their program this morning to discuss the critical needs in Gaza and the ways in which Canadian aid agencies are doing their best to help through Humanitarian Coalition | Coalition Humanitaire. We are in the conflict phase for an uncertain time, doing what we can with prepositioned and local supplies, but these are running out. We are ramping up basic food, water and medical supplies to enter the Rafah crossing from Egypt, as soon as ceasefire phase/humanitarian windows allow. And eventually there will be a recovery and rebuilding phase. Throughout all these dimensions in any humanitarian crisis, our members are guided by the core principles of humanity, neutrality, independence and impartiality. We go where the needs are greatest (even when this may be questioned by some), and we only work through our country offices and trusted and vetted local partners. None of our resources go through local authorities, whether we are working in Afghanistan, Haiti, Myanmar, Sudan or Syria. At the moment, the most acute unmet needs we face are in Gaza. We need a ceasefire now, respect by all parties for humanitarian law, and safe humanitarian access. And here at home we need to stand firm against the rise of toxic antisemitism and Islamophobia. The Moses West Foundation provides water to crisis centers through Atmospheric Water Generation. They need donations to get these machines to those areas. Often times its in areas in need, where lead is in the water. This AWG800 Machine eliminates the need for drilling, which can harm the water that has been filtered and remains deep in the ground. The more we drill, the more compromised the water becomes below the surface.
