During hiring if they are focused only on automation then there is a high probability of getting a bad hire for the role. How to get a job as Test Automation Engineer in 2024? As the job market is full of irrelevant job descriptions asking for lots of skills which they don't even know how and when these skills will be utilized! Tips to learn and progress: 1) Do not bulk develop skills: Meaning focus on one programming language, one automation library and so on.. 2) Become a Quality Advocate: Don't just stick or ask for complete automation roles, go on and try new scenarios with manual testing. Test Automation By Choice vs Test Automation By Force Both are different scenarios in the life of QA Engineer. And same time both results different growth paths over period of time. Test Automation By Choice You are passionate about learning new technologies, tools and programming languages, you have decided to grow as Automation Engineer over period of time. You get tremendous hold on complex automation projects and switching IT Jobs much easier for you. Test Automation By Force You are scared from your financial condition and decided to learn automation such an extent that let you save your job and if you switch job your target to save your job till last moment. You have learnt automation so that you not becomes job less at any point in your IT Career. Changing jobs in this scenario not easy as you have no motivation to learn programming languages or tools and your major focus for survival. My experience says more than 90 percent QA Engineers learn test automation by force and remaining 10 percent learn test automation by choice. At the same time no developer wants to learn test automation. At some point it's important to convert the force factor into choice factor and be in top 10 percent of QA Engineers globally. Change your mindset towards test automation and you will get an extra ordinary results as QA Engineer.
