Thrilled to share my recent publication in The Medical Journal's Fall/Winter 2023 edition, focusing on an issue close to my heart - spinal compression and disease in military working dogs. While our paper centered on these incredible canines serving in the military, the insights gleaned hold significant implications for all our four-legged friends. Our case delves into the intricacies of a specific spinal compression and disease affecting these dogs, uncovering optimistic findings regarding the prognosis of this condition. The key takeaway from our case report is the potential for a better prognosis for this anatomical condition than what was previously understood. This revelation underscores the critical importance of early diagnosis through the use of advanced imaging techniques. Equally vital is the implementation of a specific treatment plan tailored to the needs of each affected dog. Our findings suggest that with timely and appropriate intervention, the outcomes for dogs suffering from spinal compression and related diseases can be dramatically improved. How to prevent the heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis in dogs and cats. We recommend a new way: Imidacloprid 10% + Moxidectin 2.5% solution Imidacloprid/moxidectin is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis in dogs and cats. Imidacloprid/moxidectin kills adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and is indicated for the treatment of flea infestations in dogs and cats.

I've had the pleasure of having a contract to support and work with the amazing team at #Humanimal Trust for just over a year. I hope to continue making a contribution to this brilliant cause alongside my other work #OneMedicine What they are trying to achieve is sometimes met with real enthusiam, sometimes with amusement and sometimes just dismissed. Yet it makes a perfect sense as 74% of global annual death are from diseases like cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurological disease etc. of which at least 60% are common in most species. A real opportunity exists to share knowledge, collaborate, explore the causes of diseases and possible treatments, yet it is an opportunity so rarely taken. So many treatments follow the same path across species, and animals really are sentinels of the diseases we suffer from, even those linked to lifestyle like obesity or types of diabetes. There are at least 8 cancers that our companion animals share with us, there is multitude of MSK problems shared, which create the same quality of life problems for all species, including pain. There is a huge drive for One Health as prevention of zoonotic diseases, but #OneMedicine offers so much more, a path for understanding and curing a wide range of diseases across a wide range of species, through collaboration and knowledge sharing (and causes no harm as it intends to treat, it's not a different type of experimental animal model, it's studying what nature created and we hope to solve). As after all we are all animals.
