Our team had a fantastic time at the FCSI Educational Foundation's 32nd Annual Golf Scramble & Crab Feast! ⛳🦀 We were proud to be a sponsor and enjoyed connecting with our partners, including Squier, Curate East, and many valued dealers and consultants. This event supports the FCSI Educational Foundation’s mission to provide scholarships and conference funding for students in hospitality, restaurant, and foodservice management. It was a fantastic opportunity to support a great cause.

This is only the beginning… When a teacher and a chef had a conversation back last April, the tenacity of Julia Mottershead shone through. Meeting Noel Kennedy his support for the ideas was also encouraging. The idea… into improve the food processes and systems across our city Stoke-on-Trent City Council Schools are known for not been budget rich. But they are rich in people, energy and ideas. These have incredible value. How can we improve student experience through food? How can we contribute to curriculum and learning? Is it possible to increase the cognition and skills in students in food at KS3+4? Some of the questions we are keen to explore. There is a synergie with education and hospitality also. One that is not often highlighted. Many people that arrive in our industry are neuro-divergent. Many of which have not been able to find a sense of place within education. Working with schools we can explore personal development, self awareness and skill development with young people. Hospitality offers so much to young people wether it’s for a few years or for their whole career. It’s fantastic to have this partnership with Thistley Hough. The allotment project is a great example of the work that is happening here. #cityallotment
Today at Thistleyhoughacademy Stoke-on-Trent City Council released an exciting article on the opening of the school allotment... It was a proud day for us all including Cris Cohen and Rachel Colerick who we've been working alongside in our From Plot to Plate Project. Now 8 months in, and the Project is going from strength to strength working with the Jamie Oliver group, the BBC, FEASTED and Mark Adams The Staffordshire Oatcake Company... If you would like to launch a project with us please get in touch... This is #fromplottoplate this is only the beginning...

Inspiring Accountants - Transforming Businesses | Lean and Business Coach | ScaleUp Radio Podcast host 🎙️
🌟 Around 2 weeks ago, our team gathered at Gloucester Brewery Ltd, buzzing with excitement and ready to take on the challenge of a pub quiz. As questions flew and our minds raced, we found ourselves in the thick of a fierce competition and it was great fun. But as the final scores were tallied, we discovered we were just 1 point shy of victory! 🏆 Yet, as we reflected on the evening, it dawned on us that the true win wasn't in the leaderboard standings. The real triumph was in the camaraderie we shared and the support we extended to a noble cause. The quiz was organized to support the Hollie Gazzard Trust which is a beacon of hope for the Gloucester community. In business, as in life, it's easy to get caught up in the race to "win" - to outperform, to exceed, to be the best. But let's take a moment to ask ourselves, "What truly defines winning?" 🤔 Is it the relentless pursuit of being at the top? Or is it the joy we find in the journey, the growth we experience, and the support we offer to causes greater than ourselves? 🌱 This experience is about fostering "Joy in the Workplace" (something very close to my heart) by celebrating the spirit of giving, supporting, and being committed to a cause greater than any single victory. So, here's to the nights we don't win by points but triumph in spirit, to the lessons learned, and to the joy found in supporting each other and our communities. Remember, great conversations and fabulous results often stem from the values we champion together, not just the accolades we collect. 🌟 Let's carry this spirit forward in our businesses and lives. Because in the end, the greatest wins are those shared in support and commitment. 💖 #BusinessJoy #CommunityOverCompetition #SupportAndCommitment

If you didn't know I am letting you in on the secret. The must not miss event of VenueConnect is the DILC Celebration for a Cause. It's an opportunity to spend time with the best in the industry for a great cause. There is laughter, dancing, drinks, and stories you would only believe if you attended. Many of you may not know but one of the responsibilities of the DILC committee is to provide over $20K in scholarships to IAVM educational opportunities to individuals in underrepresented populations. The majority of the funds raised for these scholarships are done with dollars we raise during this annual event. Since 2020 the donations have started to become smaller and smaller. I am reaching out to my network to help spark the giving. We are asking for individual donations of $67. If 300 people donate $67 we can hit the $20K before we even have the event. I have over 3K connections. This should be an easy ask. You don't have to be an IAVM member to donate. You don't have to attend VenueConnect or the event to donate. You just need to take a moment to click the link and make the donation. I know at least 1k of you who have spent more on a bar tab. 😏 CHALLENGE!!! If you have received a scholarship from DILC previously, here is your opportunity to give back. I challenge you to make a donation. If you have ever attended a conference or educational opportunity with me. I challenge you to donate. If you are a member of an underrepresented group in the industry. I challenge you to donate. If you know someone who would be an amazing corporate sponsor or donor to help us create next-level inclusive content. I challenge you to inbox me with more details and then donate. 😁 Donation Link: https://lnkd.in/eXtxZYm6 Always with LOVE...

Thanks for your article in F&P (Fundraising & Philanthropy) magazine, Steven. Valuable advice for #charities. Do you have advice about admin + overheads for grant-seekers? In my experience, non-profits - especially those new to grant fundraising - can feel uncomfortable requesting a high funding amount. Your advice to people who are "shy" about asking for what they need is spot on: "describe what you would do with more funding if available". Sometimes organisations undervalue the costs associated with a grant. Applicants request funding that is not enough to cover the cost to deliver the program, forcing them to use reserves or other funds (donations, bequests) to make up the difference. Charities should request an amount that covers all the "hidden costs" required to write, deliver, measure and acquit the grant, including staff time, and a percentage of the organisation's running costs. This amount should also make allowance for the funds needed to ensure the organisation is sustainable - investment in capacity, governance, innovation, staff development and raising the next dollar (fundraising). The sector is becoming more aware of the need for greater flexibility in grant funding. More funders are awarding grants with less restrictions so the money can be directed to where it will have the most impact. Initiatives such as Reframe Overhead + Pay What it Takes are encouraging charities, funders and donors to change the conversation. Could programs like Penfolds' help to educate grant-seeking non-profits to account for the cost of being sustainable in their approach? This could help reverse the dominant "hand-to-mouth" attitude in the sector. I'd love to hear your perspective. #nonprofits #fundraisers #fundraising #grantmaking #grantfundraising #forpurpose
