This week marked the one-year work anniversary of our Executive Director, Eric Beightel! After just one year under his leadership, the Permitting Council has made great progress on its goals, including: - Offering FAST-41 permitting assistance to six new projects; - Seeing six projects complete federal permitting reviews and authorizations; - Announcing funding to increase Tribal engagement in infrastructure permitting; - Announcing investments in IT development to improve the infrastructure permitting review process; And much more. Thank you, Director Beightel, for your dedication to and passion for improving the efficiency and predictability of the federal permitting process. Cheers to another year of permitting wins!

A philanthropic legacy project in retirement focused on a circular economy. Mend It, Australia is a repair advocate and networker for Australia. It also advocates for Australian right to repair legislation.
Congratulations Jill Here are suggestions for consideration along the way. MiA & some others who attended the Australian Repair Network's Repair Roundtable are keen to see Victoria move from beyond recycling [refer Welsh Government's approach] Your appointment offers a fresh opportunity to move VIC beyond recycling to make more significant impact in the areas of reuse & repair. What was evident from the repair roundtable is that reuse & repair precincts will create jobs in repair, refurbishment, and related industries, as well as upskill workers in the manufacturing and repair sectors. These precincts could incubate and support small repair businesses and social enterprises, fostering local economies and community resilience. Existing, underutilized spaces (like old industrial sites or community centers) could be converted into repair and reuse hubs, maximizing resource efficiency. And there are collaboration opportunities with local councils, educational institutions, and community organizations to integrate these precincts with broader urban planning and community development efforts. Have you ever wondered what goes on “behind the scenes” at the National Park Service? The Oceans and Coastal Resources Program (housed in the Water Resources Division) just published our annual report for this year. In it, you can read through some of the projects we worked on over the past year, as well as some the team is hoping to take on next year. Note: most of the links are internal to the NPS, so you will need a DOI account to access them. However, the main report and the five StoryMaps embedded within it are fully public, so anyone can interact with those! Access the report at this link:

🌊 Innovations for a Sustainable Gold Coast 🏖️ The Gold Coast's coastline, once shaped by nature's forces, faced increasing challenges in the 20th century due to urban development. Severe swell events in the 1960s and 70s led to erosion, threatening the region's beauty and tourism industry. Traditional solutions like dredging and beach nourishment had to be updated to handle the rapidly growing interest in coastal living and access. In response, visionary coastal experts shifted towards proactive, sustainable strategies. We embraced nature-based solutions, such as artificial reefs, nearshore nourishment and dune vegetation, designed to combat erosion while enhancing recreational and ecological value. At International Coastal Management (ICM), we are proud to be a part of this innovative history that lives on today. In the early 80s, our founder, Angus Jackson, led the coastal engineering department for the Gold Coast City Council, and the strategies developed during that time continue to shape the practices here, today. As leaders in coastal management, we continue to work alongside the Gold Coast City Council in collaboration with Griffith University's Coastal and Marine Research Centre as well as other amazing consultants, contractors and institutions in the field. Together, we are shaping a resilient and beautiful coastline for the future of this iconic city. 🏄♂️🌴 #CoastalManagement #GoldCoast #coastalresilience #coastalerosion #coastalprotection See more on the Gold Coast coastal stabilisation history, here: https://lnkd.in/gy8xXVBr
