"Just a regular eco-warrior, stirring up sustainability in every bowl: Founder/ CEO at Dog & Whistle. Making waves with wet food, because sustainability is my mane goal!" ๐ฑ๐๐ฒ
Why are some pet foods so devastating to the planet? The production of meat-based pet food creates significant environmental impact - from deforestation for animal feed crop land, to waste and carbon emissions from factory farms. The pet food industry has traditionally leaned heavily on these practices, contributing to the global climate crisis. But it doesn't have to be this way. Consider upcycled treats; they utilize the by-products that would have otherwise gone to waste in human food production. It's about repurposing ingredients which are perfectly safe and nutritious for our pets, but are usually discarded because they don't fit human tastes or aesthetics. This closes a gap in our food system, preventing waste and reducing reliance on environmentally taxing resources. Innovation in sustainability is possible even in areas you least expect it. We can reshape industries without compromising on quality or nutrition. All we need is a bit of creativity, courage and commitment towards a greener future. So next time you buy pet food, think twice โ could there be a more sustainable choice?

The pet food industry is responsible for approximately 25-30% of environmental impacts from animal production. Shocking, isn't it? Traditionally, pet food production involves immense amounts of waste, from packaging to the mismanagement of resources. This isn't just a matter of wasted potential; it's an issue that threatens our planet's sustainability. However, the tide is turning. The focus is shifting towards upcycling ingredients and sustainable packaging solutions - creating value where there was once waste. Take Dog & Whistle for instance. By embracing upcycled ingredients in our treats, we've taken a stand against food waste while ensuring optimal nutrition for our furry friends. We're living proof that sustainability and quality nutrition are not mutually exclusive but rather two sides of the same coin. Stay tuned to discover more about how we're pushing boundaries in environmental responsibility within the pet food industry! So I ask you, as consumers and investors eager for change, what innovative solutions would you like to see in this space?

In the quest for better and more ethical food choices, it's crucial to be smart about the meat we eat. A recent article by Eco & Beyond looks into sustainable meat, and helpfully points out that there is no universal definition on what sustainable meat means, or entails. Learn more here [ https://lnkd.in/g2ZtGsZu ]. At The Meat Club, we do our best to ensure that every supplier we work with meets our own stringent requirements for sustainable farming practices and strict animal welfare practices, offering you responsibly sourced meat from Australia and New Zealand. That means for example, working with a family owned and operated beef supplier that use 100% grazing methods for our 100% Grass Fed beef range. That also means cutting out the middle man, so that our product is cut and packed at the source, saving repackaging and the waste that comes along with it. The list goes on, as we are dedicated to promoting responsible meat consumption as Conscious Carnivores, and invite you to explore our range. Make a conscious decision today for a healthier you and a healthier planet. #SustainableMeat #EthicalChoices #HealthierLiving #themeatclubsg

Sustainable by nature, driven by design, our Pet Food division is committed to improving the environmental impact of our products for the pet food industry. This is a tremendous opportunity for innovation! To achieve this, we first identified the lifecycle of our products for pet food manufacturers, from sourcing through to manufacturing, packaging and logistics, all the way to the customer. On this basis, we developed a powerful tool that enables us to assess the environmental footprint of our entire portfolio of products for pet food manufacturers, across seven impacts - carbon emissions, water use, land use, eutrophication, particulates, ... and overall environmental impact - and at each of the four main stages of the life cycle. Thanks to this tool, our Pet Food teams are now able to design pet food products with a low environmental impact, and communicate product environmental data sheets to customers. The result is new products with up to half the carbon impact for the same functional performance! Today, 87% of the CO2 emissions from our pet food solutions come from the raw materials used. The eco-design of solutions is crucial in helping us and our partners to combat climate change!
