https://lnkd.in/eiseswv6 Alerts It is  an easy debate : we have in general aviation the case of pilots around their 70s which saved against all odds desperate cases: -Single engine failure in dense  population area sucessfull controlled  emergency  landing on a roof. -  load  allevation system failure inducing severe handling qualities repercussions ( a similar previous incident lead to a fatal event) where the pilot above 70 could perform a controlled emergency landing. Those very experienced pilots were able to face surprise or even untrained scénario.

Fact: Congress increased the pilot retirement age in 2007 after both ICAO and the FAA decided to move in favor of change. The FAA, in fact, created an Aviation Rulemaking Committee and multiple work groups, including aeromedical personnel, prior to supporting an increase in the pilot retirement age—nearly a year after ICAO increased the age in 2006. More importantly, the pilot retirement age in 2007 was to harmonize to the international standard, rather than to break from it. Being out of compliance with ICAO limits pilot flying rather than increasing it, as was the case in 2007. There’s a vocal minority that is sharing misinformation and misrepresentation about pilot retirement age, complicating passage of the FAA reauthorization bill.
