Insurer Impairments Are on The Rise (Result—Planned Addition to 2024 Big I State Quarterly P&C Marketplace Summary) Below is a link to the LinkedIn posting by Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (IIAW) advising members of the insurance commissioner’s liquidation of 1st Auto & Casualty Insurance Company and its group/parent Wisconsin Reinsurance Corporation. Swiss Re is having a webinar on E&O aspects of increasing insurer financial troubles. Insurer impairments are on the rise, that is for certain. https://lnkd.in/d2p3kN-q Insurer impairments are more frequent so independent agents and brokers will benefit from being mindful. To aid members in Big I states –based on feedback on the current Big I State Quarterly P&C Marketplace Summaries – an appendix will be added in 2024. An example of this appendix highlighting a single insurer and the state-wide total/average is provided in document below. This sample is from what it would have been for a 2023—Q3 Big I State Quarterly Marketplace Summary. The commentary on page #2 of the document points out the utility of such a list for independent insurance agents. The new appendix will be provided with existing quarterly data on premium trends by distribution style starting with 2024-Q1 Big I State Quarterly Marketplace Summaries. That Summary will have the new appendix along with the usual line of business and state premium trends, and the monitoring of state-wide incurred losses added in 2023.
