🎈 20 cheers for 20 remarkable years as a broker! Join us in raising a toast to the man of the hour – Rod Schlick!   It's been two decades since Rod swapped his sailor shoes for a broker's hat. In our industry, we often say that brokering chooses you, and looking back, it's clear that Rod was destined for a career with sea legs - but the voyage wasn't always smooth sailing. Fun fact: Rod initially aspired to be a shipowner, but as fate would have it, brokering found him. Armed with sailing experience like his seafaring father and grandfather before him and his maritime economics and law studies, he stumbled into shipbroking and discovered his true calling.   If you’ve looked to buy or sell a ship over the past 20 years, chances are you’ve met Rod. He joined Friday & Co. Shipbrokers (formerly ARAS Shipbrokers and Amels Shipbrokers) as a broker in 2003 (Happy 20th Birthday Rod!!). Since then Rod has worked with many clients and colleagues from all facets of the ship sale & purchase market. He’s always busy yet manages to give generously of his time and never without a cheeky grin. On the side, he is an Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers tutor and Chair of the ICS Netherlands which he helped formalise into an official branch during his tenure as Vice-Chair.   The rebranding to Friday & Co. Shipbrokers occurred in 2017 when ARAS Shipbrokers and Latvian Smilgas Shipping united forces. Ivars Jankavs, Friday's partner in Riga, continues to impress Rod and the crew with his optimistic take on life. Then in 2019, Friday expanded its wings even further by partnering with Sea3R and Peter Molloy for his reporting and analytical mind.   In more recent years, under Rod’s fair guidance, the Friday team has steadily grown into a multinational crew of talented brokers known for their seemingly never-ending repertoire of bad jokes!   We like to work hard and play smart, but ultimately, we are here to serve our clients properly and provide them with valuable market information. We believe it is important to invest in long-lasting client relationships so here’s to 20 more years of brokerage and bringing you that unmistakable Friday feeling every day of the week! #HappyBirthdayRod 🎈   #HappyFriday #HappyBirthday #shipbroking with Roderick Schlick
