Today, the Austin Animal Services Office launched a community survey to gather feedback on what #ATX prioritizes for our animals. At APA!, we know that our community prioritizes lifesaving, we wouldn’t be the organization we are today if this weren’t true. Austin, we have an URGENT ask of you. Though it's powerful, Why not stop using animal milk? Isn't this a better solution? why not be vegan and stop eating animal proteins? It's easily said and shouted but it's difficult because our taste buds are used to these as a ready to consume food to make us more convenient and more lazy in a race to run job timings. These are my personal thoughts. what are yours! Preachers do not practice that includes me too because we are biased so badly that we can't come out of this rut. A revolution only will bring in change. It's a good awareness program that's effective as a prelude to it.

You know, I have to get this off my chest about all the horrifying pics of animals suffering. It upsets me to my core to see pictures like this above, people take the time to post them of animals suffering. We all can imagine the horrors of what animals suffer and go through mostly, that has to do with humans involved, in some way. The first and foremost empathic thing to do is help the animal, not take pictures or videos, things like this makes me want to quit social media, isn't this supposed to be a career networking site? I am starting to really think about having second thoughts about this. I have rescued animals, had the media involved to break the case to shut down a shelter, I did not have time to take pictures nor did I want to of some of the animals that died from being so sick. The day I helped move them out of the shelter. the only time I needed to show the animals was at the shelter as I walked through it with someone videoing the shelter for the news station, so people could join in to help support me on trying to shut it down. How can anyone just snap pictures, this as an example, just watch the pup as it was clearly disabled and can hardly walk, suffering, just kept on videoing, why not take videos or pictures, of you are someone saving the animal! that is what needs to be seen! I will never understand people and on what level their mind works! this applies to everyone not just to this person, so please understand, what I am trying to explain.

My alma mater, Southern Utah University, and Best Friends Animal Society have two courses focused on lifesaving in our nation's shelters starting next week on October 18! The first, Principles of Contemporary Animal Services (POCAS), is an exceptional opportunity that will take students on a journey through the history of our field, help them understand its current state, and provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to help animals in shelters. POCAS is well-suited for both seasoned professionals and those just starting out.
