The perfect example of the KISS principle (Keep it Simple Stupid). This house in Arthurs Point, Queenstown is basically a two story rectangle. The interesting elevation is created by shading elements, modulated to let the light in, but cut out too much sun in the summer. By keeping it simple, not only is the cost of building reduced, due to less materials, un-complex details which equals less waste and less carbon. A simple form also means the building takes less energy to heat, being the simplest and cheapest way to create a low energy house.
