Latino employees face significant disparities in the workplace. In fact, Kanarys research shows that while 65% of Latino professionals agreed that their company does a good job of providing training and education related to DEIB, 50% have personally witnessed or experienced discrimination or bias in their workplace. As we begin #HispanicHeritageMonth, it is crucial to emphasize that in order to make significant progress in DEIB, we must tackle the challenges from a systemic perspective. We encourage companies to utilize data from our report with Prospanica National to inform and enhance their DEIB initiatives, aiming to empower #Latino employees and foster their success within corporate America. Championing diversity On the occasion of today’s #GermanDiversityDay, @EuropeanXFEL reaffirms its recognition of diversity as an important part of a fair, equal and inclusive working environment. Having signed the #ChartaDerVielfalt in 2022, the facility joined over 4,500 German organisations and institutions that are committed to creating a respectful working environment for all–regardless of age, ethnic origin, nationality, gender, gender identity, physical or mental ability, religion, ideology, sexual orientation or social background. European XFEL promotes the careers of young female scientists and engineers, including through participation in the #dynaMENT mentoring programme, and offers a family-friendly working environment with remote work, part-time and flexitime options, dual career support, emergency childcare and a parent-child office. Other current and future activities are aimed at the LGBTQI+ community and employees with disabilities. For example, a panel discussion on the topic of ‘Creating a safe environment for people with disabilities to enable an open approach to the topic’ is planned for 5 June on the occasion of the visit by the Equal Opportunities Officers of the #EIROforum partner institutions. In order to sustainably improve diversity in the European XFEL workforce, the research organisation is in the process of setting up diversity training for all employees and users following a training course for managers. A comprehensive longer-term plan is in place to improve various aspects of the recruitment process, as well as the external image towards female applicants, and to develop better coordination with partner universities on this issue.

This picture is very common and most of us have seen it at some point of time; however, most common debate on Equality Vs Equity is how they are different or may be how usually people define them in various contexts. To simply put equality aims for equal treatment and assumes that everyone starts from the same point, while equity focuses on fairness and justice by addressing existing disparities and tailoring support to individual needs. The choice between equality and equity depends on the context and the goal. Some of the most challenging work that we have done in Paathshala is to work with clients to create sustainable and scalable ID&E strategy and roadmap.
