It’s been six years since the last airline merger in the U.S. and on paper the Frontier/Spirit deal makes sense. They have complimentary all-Airbus fleets, they do not dominate any major market and they share similar business plans/cultures. Loved this interview with GM CEO Mary Barra for a couple of reasons. First, this is a major commitment to EVs and it solidifies that we are on the cusp of a major transition in the auto industry. Second, watch the confidence in Barra as she discusses GM's EV game plan. The next four years may or may not play out as planned, but Barra and GM are "all in" when it comes to going electric and that shows in this interview on Squawk on the Street.

This is the latest sign United is actively looking to make targeted bets that could pay off in the years ahead. After investing in direct carbon capture, an eVTOL start-up and supersonic planes, United has put Mike Leskinen in charge of a VC fund. He laid out United’s vision on Squawk Box and made it clear there are more deals in the pipeline.
