Every year, at the University Photographers' Association of America (UPAA) Symposium, we award one photographer the PhotoShelter UPAA Grant, a monetary prize to celebrate this passionate community and assist in funding a creative endeavor for one special honoree. Last year, we awarded this grant to Matt Stamey, Marketing and Communications Photographer at Santa Fe College, photojournalism teacher, and award-winning freelance photographer. We interviewed Matt about his submission, the impact this grant had on his ongoing passion project, and what the #UPAA community means to him. ➡ Read our interview here: https://lnkd.in/diEVfjCS Now, our team is excited to be back at the UPAA Symposium this week to meet with this passionate community and award another grant winner! Are you a university photographer? Are you attending this year's UPAA symposium? Say Hi in the comments below. 👋

Let's translate your 'why' into a powerful visual story that speaks volumes and empowers millions (also remotely) #personalbrandphotographer #virtualphotographer
While conversing with my clients, I’ve noticed that some hesitate to start a business due to the perceived expenses involved. As a photographer, I don’t face these costs initially, but I understand how they can accumulate over time. This year, I’m focusing on two programs: One is tailored for photographers, where I’ll be teaching #womenphotographers how to establish and operate a #remotephotographybusiness. The second program targets #womenentrepreneurs, aiming to instruct them on capturing images themselves when launching their businesses or updating their images independently at lower costs. I’m still receiving numerous inquiries about #remotephotography, so here’s another post elaborating on it in detail. - #contentcreation #remotephotography #virtualphotography Do you understand how remote photography work?

📸 In the realm of professional photography, our role transcends capturing moments—it’s about crafting art, weaving stories, and immortalizing memories. Yet, the journey and investment behind each photograph often remain unseen by our clients. Moreover, the emergence of freelancers offering services at significantly lower prices has begun reshaping public perceptions and standards of photography. It’s vital we bridge this gap in understanding. Behind every frame: • Years of expertise, honed skills, and continuous learning. • Considerable investment in professional-grade equipment. • Hours of meticulous planning, shooting, and post-processing. • A bespoke service tailored to each client’s unique needs and visions. The reality is, the general public may not be fully aware of what professional photography entails, nor the costs associated with producing high-quality work. It falls upon us, the professionals, to enlighten and educate our audience about the true value of what we do. This is not merely about justifying our pricing but fostering an appreciation for the artistry and dedication that define our profession. In a landscape where low-cost services are setting new expectations, it’s our responsibility to articulate the distinction between price and value, ensuring our clients understand the depth of their investment in our work. I encourage my fellow photographers to join this important conversation. How do we collectively raise awareness about the value of professional photography? How do we educate the public to discern and appreciate the art that we create? #Photography #ProfessionalPhotography #ValueOfArt #ClientEducation #ArtVsPrice

Crafting Visual Narratives | Photographer | Advocate for Mental Health Awareness | Turning Ideas into Impactful Content
📸 Calling All Photographers! 📸 There's been quite a buzz about the new editing software - Imagen Ai, which promises to edit photos to our personal style or any style we dictate. While I totally get the time-saving appeal, I can't help but have mixed feelings about it. For many of us, photography isn't just about capturing the shot but also about pouring our creativity into the editing process. I find it therapeutic, a chance to imprint a piece of myself into every frame. With Imagine Ai, I feel like we might be sidelining an integral part of our craft. What are your thoughts? Do you see it as a boon or something that takes away from the authentic experience of photography? Share your insights! I'd love to hear from my fellow creatives. 💡🎨 #Photography #ImagenAi #PhotoEditing #Creativity #Ai
