🚨 Rant Alert! 🚨 Dear event organizers: please pick better chairs for panel discussions. That cozy chair that looks like it came from Pottery Barn? It may look nice, but it’s too low to the ground and deep. Speakers either have to slouch (terrible for their voices) or sit uncomfortably on the edge of the chair with their legs in front of them (terribly awkward). Those stools that you think look super casual? They are so high, shorter speakers (usually women) can’t touch the ground and are forced to use part of their brain precariously balancing. And don’t get me started on wearing skirts on them! Or those buffet tables in front of the speakers? Unless the speakers are testifying before Congress, giving a post-game interview, or at a comic book convention, this is not a great look. And I get it, everyone else is doing it for panels. It’s “part of the genre.” Well sometimes the rules and conventions of a genre do not serve the purpose of the event. So who can design me a better chair for panels? Or who knows where to get one? Morgan Mitchell? Brent Foley, AIA, NCARB, NOMA? Mark Snyder? Jennifer Kerns Josh Anderson? Cheryl Ruschau? Tanya Irelan? Ruth Milligan Blythe Coons Kim Goldsmith Michelle Bretscher

This work is an act of (inter)national service, and I implore you to watch the videos linked in the comments or the Guardian article when released. Jon helped bring one of the most inspiring, proactive, and visionary changemakers in the World to British shores for a series of conversations about the future of democracy. My favourite takeaway - we can (and should) demonstrate the future we want to see, not protest for it. #citizenfuture #participatorydemocracy #changemakers #future #democracynow
I’ve just lived three of the most incredibly inspiring days of my life… Back on 22nd May I messaged E. Glen Weyl on this very platform, having seen that he and Audrey Tang had published their book PLURALITY and were on tour in Europe. “You have to come here!” I wrote. “Britain needs you - this could be our moment!” Well, thanks to a marathon effort from Olivia Stamp, we made it happen - and damn, did we make a splash. In 72 hours… We took Audrey to meet Brian Eno and the Hard Art crew, and worked with Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) to get some of the best creative minds in Britain whirring on how to inspire hope and civic engagement in the first 100 days of a new govt. We recorded podcasts with The Economist at the very serious end of the spectrum, and the Futurenauts (aka Ed Gillespie and Mark Stevenson) at the playful. We held live events for “outside game” changemakers at The Conduit and Newspeak House, and “inside game” changemakers at Demos. I’ll have much more on all of this very soon - but for now I had to share this one moment. That’s simon hattenstone of The Guardian in the background. He’d already been interviewing Audrey for 2 hours, and his daughter was calling, but he couldn’t stop. Even while she was in make up for the photo shoot, he kept asking questions. I can’t wait to read the feature! 😂 If you missed out, don’t worry - the events at the Conduit and Demos were both filmed (links in comments), and of course the podcasts and Simon’s piece are coming soon.

Earlier today, Infoway President and CEO Michael Green appeared on the Evan Bray, O.O.M. Show to discuss the important work we’re doing to innovate in Canada's health care system. A topic of discussion was also the recent report from Public Policy Forum’s Series ‘Unlocking Health Care’ which includes key recommendations around committing to paperless health care systems. Infoway's Shared pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap, developed in partnership with Health Canada | Santé Canada and the provinces and territories, provides the framework to implement connected care across Canada, resulting in patient health data accessibility and ownership, as well as digital health records accessibility across all jurisdictions. 🔗 Full interview: https://bit.ly/49krbfW 🔗 More on Infoway's Roadmap: https://bit.ly/43iJbVG
