Honoured to be part of the Bloomberg flagship ‘Power of Action: Unique Identities’ Pride event and what an evening 🌈 🌈 The energy in the room was amazing and what an inspiring event, bringing together a wide, diverse and engaged collective of individuals to discuss the topics, themes and intersections covered. I was delighted to be part of a panel, alongside the ever-amazing Sarah Rench and as our moderator, we had none other than the ever-inspiring Eileen Gbagbo – two amazing souls In our session we focused on gender identity and the digital implications across the range of diverse identities and how these intersect – some of the themes we dived into included 🌈 Busting some of the common myths and misconceptions around gender identity, gender expression and sexuality 💜 The importance of intersectionality and tips to ensure this is front and centre 🌈Where, why and how bias towards the LGBTQI+ community can exist in AI systems, data sets and algos (brought to life by some great real-life examples) 💜Looking at the various glass ceilings and how inclusive workspaces can address these challenges 🌈 What identity means to us and importance of not making assumptions. 💜The navigation of the corporate workspace and the lived experience of queer individuals 🌈The importance of visibility and representation of Queer communities 💜How allyship shows up and tips for allies to be even more a super hero ally We also had super engaging sessions in the form of a fireside chat and another amazing panel from CEO of HSBC Alternative’s Joanna Munro, Societe Generale UK CEO Thierry d'Argent, Head of Bloomberg green, energy and equity John Fraher, Global head of trade sales at J.P. Morgan Natasha Condon, Lead business architect at Lloyds Banking Group Rowan Aderyn, Litigation lawyer at Hogan Lovells and my dearest sister and superstar Jacqui Rhule-Dagher and the ever amazing Manisha Mehrotra head of EMEA D&I at Bloomberg and a star that shines bright. Closing remarks were then heard from Lisanne de Groot and Adam Rizzotto, two SUPER inspiring and awesome co-leads of the Bloomberg BProud network - an amazing job at conveying so many key points. These included the progress made, the work we still have ahead and why all the letters of the LGBTQIA+ acronym need to be acknowledged, uplifted and celebrated and why Pride is so very vital and needed!!! The networking, drinks and food were beyond epic and so much networking followed where it was great to catch up with many existing and new friends alike. So many to list and a few being Mauro Beretta Luca Marchi Michelle Bennett Raga D'silva Jay Modi Belton Flournoy III Julia Reidy Angel Chan Deanna Hallett Telma Marotto Jenna Sykes Ashwin Sharma James Emmanuel and many more An amazing event and kudos to Bloomberg for this and to the entire team who work SO very hard making these events happen Kudos, love and respect to all and happy Pride 🌈 #Pride2024 #Intersectionality #BeTheChangeYouWantToSee
