Women and girls are often on the frontlines of responding to humanitarian crises worldwide, yet they’re consistently under-prioritized and underfunded. In this episode of The New Humanitarian’s podcast “Left Unsaid,” Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah discusses the current state of global aid funding for women and girls and how the humanitarian sector can better support them.

Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah's analysis hit home on two key points: The lack of political will by those in power (patriarchy) and the need for revolution (something almost antithetical to the patriarchy)... She went on to define revolution as '...women and girls at the front.', but understanding reasons for (patriarchal) lack of political will was layered and complex, and understandably difficult to pinpoint... As for myself, being in a representative democracy, one possible pressure point on political will is simply public interest. Raised public interest can encourage political will to bend towards public demands of action... In consideration of her call for (a feminist) revolution, a social movement (sustained campaign in support of a social goal, typically either the implementation or the prevention of a change in society’s structure or values) could be what is necessary... A truly galvanizing, feminist social movement around 'Womens Reproductive Health' is now necessary in my home country; The United States... empathyequalsjustice.com 🤔❣⚖🏗🏛🏗⚖❣🤔 Proposal: 'Solely a supreme judicial 'sisterhood' must preside over any and all cases related to 'Womens Reproductive Health' for their fellow 'sisterhood' within the citizenry...

I commend Ms. Melinda French-Gates for raising her voice on this and other issues because when persons like me raise these issues, no one supports - sometimes, not even other women!! I continue to really push for fair treatment for others and even myself when many others prefer to be quiet. Too many are suffering....too many are working for social reform/transformative change by addressing the root causes of our challenges and suffering while no one cares! The discrimination, intimidation and manipulation to cease helping and empowering many are astounding - especially when we go against the status quo. I have been speaking on these and like issues for the last 13 years, sacrificing much and trusting and hoping for change and watching the PR, rhetoric and PR stunts. We need genuine change at so many levels and I will continue to reiterate that we need collaboration with respect!!
