"I chose Dory as the Pixar character that inspires me the most. I have Down syndrome so, like Dory, I also have a disability that affects my ability to remember things. My mom and dad have used lots of fun little ways to help me with things like my memory over the years. I relate to Dory because I make mistakes and apologize a lot too, but my family always points out where I have grown. Just like Dory’s parents at the end of the movie, when she uses the purple shells to find her way home, my parents tell me not to be sorry for forgetting but to be proud of how far I've come. My painting represents the moment when Dory finally finds her way home. Dory’s story helps me to feel understood and reminds me that it’s ok to make mistakes sometimes! What really matters is that I stay true to myself and practice the skills I’ve learned to help me grow. Like Dory says… ‘Just keep swimming!' Also, I love that her colors are blue and yellow because those are the colors for Down syndrome awareness!" - Grace, artist (graceplaceart on Instagram) #WorldDownSyndromeAwarenessDay
Wonderful message, and I love the art!
Grace, your story and artwork are truly inspiring! Your resilience and positivity, and your love for Dory, are a testament to the fact that we can overcome any challenge and find our way home. Keep shining bright and spreading awareness for Down syndrome! 🌟💙💛 #Inspiration #Dory #DownSyndromeAwareness
Another good thing we can do for these children is to animate their drawings to make them happy. If you want, I can do it
Beautiful ... also the colours favoured by Frida Khalo in her house in Mexico. Someone who also lived creatively and fully despite limitations (^_^)
That's a wonderful gesture! Heartwarming! I hope you guys find a way to use her art along with other artists in the autism spectrum in your upcoming movies.
This artwork has a amazing aura. As for my credo: Creativity is the most honest way of communication.
You are an amazing painter I love your paintings. I also love the movie finding Nemo. One of my old time favourites 😊
Looking to infuse The Magic of Disney into a new job position!
1yGrace, everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone can admit to having done so. If we do not make mistakes, we do not learn. I believe your parents and you, yourself, are right. “Just keep swimming!” By the way, you are a very talented artist, too. That makes you even more special! - Lisa, former Walt Disney World Cast Member and sister to a very fine artist
