Despite making up half of the world’s population, women only account for about 34% of clinical trial participants. The NIH’s inclusion policy has helped turn things around, but low female participation persists. A recent article from clinical leader highlights 5 easy steps trials designers can take to better serve women. Today, March 8th marks International Day of Women's Rights. The UN has set this year's theme as 'Invest in women: accelerate progress,' a call to action we fully support! Investing in women's education has paved the way for significant advancements in various fields, including STEM. The increasing presence of women in medicine, both in family care and specialties, has driven advancements benefiting all genders. Supporting women's health is crucial, especially in times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Redirecting resources away from women's health services has created funding gaps and hindered progress in addressing women-specific health challenges. At Therapixel, we are dedicated to championing women's rights to healthcare, research, and treatment. Today is International Women's Day 2024! Yesterday we attended the World Economic Forum presentation on the 1 trillion dollar opportunity to close the women's health gap. Myths were busted (women's health is not just reproductive health) and call to actions were had. Providing a 6 step action plan to close the gap, which is fantastic progress. Unfortunately, they did not acknowledge the amazing work of SME's already happening around the world, in the women's health space (SME's account for 99% of all businesses in the EU). These game-changing entrepreneurs working in the 'gender health gap' are more than mere 'stand in's' while we wait for government and big Pharma to plug the gap. Female Health Founders advocates for these purpose led entrepreneurs to be brought into the discussion and to all work together in collaboration to close the gender health gap. Female Health Founders champion the global women's health SME's and are proud to provide a platform and showcase there phenomenal work in making women's health accessible to their communities.
