The 9th edition of Women in the Workplace, jointly presented by Lean In and McKinsey & Co., was published on Monday and it paints a bleak picture of women's corporate progress. While senior leadership roles have seen substantial growth in recent years, a persistent under-representation of women of colour remains a challenge. The report underscores the importance of understanding the following trends: ➡️ Women's ambition is on the rise, with nearly 8 in 10 women aiming for promotions this year, especially among those under 30 ➡️ The "broken rung" is the primary obstacle to women's advancement, leading to fewer women in director roles ➡️ Microaggressions disproportionately affect women, impacting their psychological well-being and job satisfaction ➡️ Flexibility is equally valued by men and women for its positive impact on efficiency, work-life balance, and company success. Recognising and addressing these realities is essential for creating a more equitable workplace for women. This report provides a vital roadmap for companies to break free from outdated thinking and accelerate progress toward gender equality. It's clear that embracing these insights is crucial for shaping a future where women thrive in the workplace. As we commemorate Women's History Month, it's important to reflect on this year’s theme of “Women Who Advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.” The role of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in reshaping the modern workplace and fostering an environment where all women can flourish professionally, regardless of their background is paramount to the success of all organizations. In our latest blog, “Empowering Women in the Workplace: The Imperative of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” we take a look at the progress that has been made, but also outline what work needs to be done to ensure the workplace — and our overall communities— are equitable and prosperous to all, no matter their gender. I am delighted to share the 9th edition of the #WomenInTheWorkplace2023 report, a joint effort by LeanIn Banasthali Vidyapith and McKinsey & Company. This report is a must-read for anyone who cares about gender equality and diversity in the workplace. The report reveals four common myths that hold back women’s careers and shows how we can overcome them. Contrary to popular belief, one of the most surprising findings is that women are not less ambitious than men. In fact, women are as eager to advance in their careers as men, and even more so after the pandemic. Women’s ambition is not only strong but also resilient. Despite facing more challenges and barriers than men, women remain committed to their professional goals at every level of the organization. And young women are incredibly ambitious: 75% aspire to become senior leaders. One of the critical factors that supports women’s ambition is workplace flexibility. Women who have the option to work hybrid or remotely are as ambitious as their on-site counterparts, and they also report higher levels of satisfaction and well-being. If you want to learn more about these and other insights from the report, you can read it here: leanin.org/wiw I am incredibly inspired by the women I work with daily at CBIZ and in the community, who demonstrate their passion, talent, and leadership in everything they do. I am proud to be an ally and a supporter of women in the workplace, and I hope you are, too. #CBIZWomensAdvantage #LeanIn #WomenInTheWorkplace #Female #Leadership #Ambition #Inspiration #Leaders #Hybrid #Remote #Workplace #WomenLeaders

I enjoyed reading the key findings from the Women in the Workplace report that Lean In and McKinsey & Company just released. It highlights the progression of women in the workplace which is great but it expands on the issue still at hand, that gender justice and equity are lacking in the corporate world. If companies truly stand for diversity, gender diversity has to be at the forefront as well. Check out the report below and let me know your thoughts! #womenintheworkplace2023 #womenatwork #futureofwork https://lnkd.in/ep7ydx5U!

Are women getting their fair share in the workplace? The latest report from McKinsey on women at work has some news. Women are dreaming big, but the number of women in higher job roles isn’t growing fast. The report also talks about old myths, like women not wanting top jobs - which isn’t true (glass ceiling vs broken rug). Some progress has been made with more women in senior roles, but not enough, especially for women of colour. Have a read through ⬇️😊

On January 25, 2024 | 10am -11am (virtual) - Our Principal and Founder, Teresa M Lundy will be moderating a panel discussion for The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia ‘A Working Culture That Works For Women’. Details: While many firms have long declared gender equality a priority, women are still not seeing enough significant action. According to McKinsey’s 2023 Women in the Workplace report, for every 100 men promoted from entry-level to manager, 87 women, and only 73 women of color, are promoted. Women also experience microaggressions at a significantly higher rate than men, making them three times more likely to quit their jobs and four times more likely to have chronic burnout. Reconciling antiquated organizational policies, facilities, and mindsets is crucial to equal representation in the workplace and improved working conditions for women. Join fellow leaders, subject matter experts, and major employers for a panel discussion to better understand and empower women in all fields, especially those from male-centric industries. Recognize what non-inclusive roadblocks remain and learn how to constructively address and remove these obstacles with colleagues and employers. Take away strategies that any company can use to nurture an inclusive culture that practices bias prevention and mental wellness to better attract, retain, and grow the careers of talented women.
