I have bad news. We need to REDUCE our materials consumption before we recycle or reuse. While reusing plastic in this way is innovative, I don't want to wear reused plastic! WHY? Plastic is constantly degrading into microplastics. Plastic and microplastics in our clothing (and foods!) is leading to endocrine disruption, weight gain, insulin resistance, impacted fertility / reproductive health, and cancer! When brands do good by recycling plastics into clothing and other products, it may be good for the environment, but it is not good for our bodies. I am by no means perfect, but I have been doing extensive research when it comes to materials lately. When buying new clothing, I am doing my best to lower the amount of chemicals in my closet by buying organic cotton, linen, and other natural fabrics. Polyester is derived from petroleum, making it a plastic. The best thing to do is buy nothing, but the second best thing is being conscious about WHAT you buy. #sustainability #humanhealth #HealthyMaterials

As consumers, we have the right to call out businesses for wasteful practices. Recently, I received a box measuring 2.5 cubic feet from a large international company. The box was used to ship four smaller boxes that when grouped measure just 28% of the larger box. The remaining 72% was filled with over 50’ of inflatable plastic filler. This isn’t the first time seeing this, but 50’ of filler is simply too much to ignore. There is no excuse as boxes come in all sizes. Poor training in the shipping department is clearly highlighted here. Let’s do better and hold businesses accountable for their wasteful practices. We need plastic but there is too much of it and cheap plastic ie., bottles of water we never used to have bottled water and especially at the extent as it is now. We were happy with glass, l reuse my glass bottle making juice so only one plastic bottle it came out off. We used to get bottles of soda/lemonade we took it back to the shop to get money back on them. I say use plastic responsibly and of course it's being recycled all the time. In my Mum's day she had wicker/straw baskets to take to either the van that would come round selling either groceries, butchermeat, fish etc., on a daily basis. There is still vans going round like the ice-cream van, fish van, there used to be a fish and chip van though probably health and safety stopped that.
