Do you do this ? It can help save energy and save you a little $ too. :) During the cooler months, set your ceiling fan blades to spin clockwise on a low speed. Since warm air rises naturally, the updraft created by this direction will pull the colder air upwards and allow for the redistribution of the warm air that tends to accumulate and get trapped near the ceiling. During the summer months, set your ceiling fan blades to spin counterclockwise. This will push air down and create a cool breeze to help keep you cool. :) Nearly all ceiling fans have a switch located on the side of the fan base that lets you change the direction of the fan blades.

🌬️💡🔄 Feeling the summer heat? Don't sweat it! Here at Union Power Cooperative, we're big fans of... well, fans! Especially ceiling fans. Why? Ceiling fans are a fantastic, energy-efficient way to keep your home cool and comfortable. They work by creating a 'wind chill effect', making you feel cooler without actually lowering the room temperature. This means you can raise your thermostat by 4°F with no reduction in comfort, saving up to 10% on your summer cooling costs. But the benefits don't stop there. In the winter, simply reverse your fan's direction to push warm air down from the ceiling, helping to distribute heat more evenly throughout your room. So, remember to make the most of your ceiling fans and enjoy the energy savings! #UnionPowerCoop #EnergyEfficiency #CeilingFans #SustainableLiving 🌍💚🏠

Does it matter which way your blade swings? As a matter of fact it does... Hey, we're talking about ceiling fans! Where did your mind go? Did you know that ceiling fans serve two different and important functions in your home? The most obvious is they help keep you cool in the spring and summer. However, what many people don’t know is that operating a ceiling fan in the fall and winter helps keep your room warmer by pulling the cool air up. Running your fan correctly at different times of the year can help maintain your desired temperature, make your HVAC more efficient and potentially reduce energy costs.
