Meet Lawton Henderson, our Spring 2024 intern, and a senior at East Carolina University! He is learning the inner workings of each department at Visit Greenville, NC, and doing some industry research for Greenville-Pitt County Sports Commission! A: Definitely working with the team and getting to know everyone.    Q: What is your post-grad plan? A: I would like to travel internationally before starting my career.   Q: What is your perfect day in Greenville? A: Going to an ECU Football Game, hitting the gym, and finishing the day with dinner at Angus Grill.   Q: If you could have dinner with 3 famous people from any time, who would they be? A: Joe Rogan, John Lennon, and Albert Einstein (he thinks it would be an interesting conversation).   Q: What is a fun fact about yourself? A: I have a cocker spaniel named after Jimi Hendrix.

Overall, the private messages I have had from summer students about their experiences have been quite positive. Perhaps most gratifying is that they really appreciate their fellow summer students. Three things they would like to see: 1 immediate substantive feedback from those they are working for 2 more time spent in sessions with leading partners on what skills and strengths they prioritize in those who work with them and how to develop them 3 more education on the business of law-what is the firm strategy, areas for more emphasis; how do you make your money -big clients, more clients, higher rates, more hours-how does it work -we can read the strategy of most businesses. What is yours?

Huge thank you to Clifford Werber for speaking to the Tulane Entertainment Business Network today, and thank you to our new Director of Development Olivia Wheadon for helping put together our first event of the semester! Clifford shared his experience in the entertainment industry with our members, providing valuable and inspiring insight for our future endeavors. He spoke about his experience with law school, internships with Sony and Warner Bro's, working as an entertainment lawyer, working in Film Acquisitions and co-productions at Fox and Warner Bro's, producing A Cinderella Story, and finally founding Globalgate entertainment. We are so thankful to learn from his years of experience as an attorney, executive, and producer. Here are some of the key takeaways from his talk: 1. Take a sword for what you believe in. Fight for it and speak up. Don't be afraid to have an opinion. 2. It's possible to be a creative executive. Being in business or law doesn't have to limit your experience. The entertainment business is a great industry from a creative standpoint, as well as financially(sometimes). 3. Clifford could ask himself if it was smart to take chances or make certain decisions in his life, but he wouldn't be where he is today if he didn't make both smart and stupid decisions. 4. Hollywood is difficult(so is life). There will always be challenges and rewards. Keep pushing. It's always a challenge until the right moment, time, and place. 5. Take time off after graduating if you need it. That's okay, it might even be good for you.
