We're on countdown to our 5 year celebrations (this Friday/Saturday!). In a way it seems like yesterday since we turned up in our 'broom cupboard office' with a couple of laptops, and not even any broking software or agencies. Now we have a team of 12, keys to our new office, and one of the best teams I've ever worked with. If anyone is interested, here are the 5 main lessons that I've learnt in that time, they're not my ideas, or my advice, but it seems like a nice time to reflect - 1. There's no substitute for hard work. There are no shortcuts. If you get your head down you'll be amazed what you can achieve. 2. It's all about the team you build. There's a lot of nice, hard working, talented people out there. You've just got to find them. 3. You'll never be criticised by someone doing more than you, only less. In the same vein, don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from. 4. Speed of action beats perfection. Things don't need to be perfect straight away. Don't sit on a good idea. Launch it, get real feedback, then improve. 5. Everything is a process. Build it, tweak it, refine it. Everything within business has a formula. Here's to the next 5 years!

What an amazing Spike Week! Wrapping up our 6th annual all-team event for 2024, it’s clear this year topped them all. We brought together over 180 team members from 45+ nationalities, spanning 5 offices and remote locations, for an unforgettable week in the Austrian Alps ⛰️ Our teams are the heart of our success. That’s why we’re so dedicated to building a culture of trust, collaboration, and shared achievements. Happy, connected teams do great things. "We Build Bridges" isn’t just our motto; it’s how we live and work. This year’s Spike Week was jam-packed with activities: workshops, team-building exercises, our beloved "BAU" (Bonding As Usual), and a mindfulness and resilience workshop to keep us grounded. Back to work! After a long, very uninterrupted and re-energizing, fun summer vacation. Returning, my first thoughts are: What do I need to do now? But just doing things might not get us to reach our goals. I take a step back and think: What are the most important things to achieve before Christmas? What are the main milestones to achieve that? Who could provide great inputs to this? Who are needed in this? What do I need to achieve this week? With whom? How do you restart after a long vacation?

While holiday breaks are refreshing and needed, our teams can't be expected to come back to the office and be ultra productive the minute they open the door. They need time to mentally prepare and plan for the workload that sits in front of them that piled up from the holiday break. No amount of prep work we did before the break will fend off the mental reload that needs to happen on the first morning back. Let's remember to ask our teams how their holidays were, let them catch up with each other for a bit, make some coffee, and have a team meeting to plan what this week should look like. We lead humans, not robots.

On the other side of the summer vacation circus at home might be: Fewer 1:1s Cancelled meetings Delayed priority projects at work. "I have a bit more space" "Things are just a bit quieter at work" "I'm working on the things I don't usually have time for" I know this isn't the case for everyone. If you read that say "I wish!" - you're not alone. And if this IS you: What are the activities, rituals and routines in the "quieter time" that you can take with you when things start to ramp up again? If you were to translate the most meaningful way you are maximizing your time now into calendar format - what personal time, deep work time and consolidated collaborative time could you build into your schedule for September onward? What if this summer "slow time" isn't a pause in productivity but an invitation to refine and level up your working style?
