Today, we reached financial close on the NextGen Energy Program – kicking off the start of a 33-year partnership with the University of Maryland (UMD) to modernize the university's energy system. Plenary Americas, along with partners Kiewit and Honeywell, will play a critical role in delivering a sustainable energy system and reducing UMD’s dependency on fossil fuels. The NextGen Energy Program will provide for a more resilient and efficient energy system on campus that will improve energy services and have a significant environmental impact – capable of cutting carbon emissions by 23% and decreasing water consumption by 50%. The NextGen Energy Program is part of UMD's commitment to become fossil-free by 2035. Construction is expected to begin in July.
