🌏World Classroom🎒 2023-2024 "World Classroom" is a distinctive tradition of Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School. Every year, PLKCKY students from Year 4 to 8 participate in study tours to different cities as a whole grade. In 2020, the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide forced us to temporarily suspend the program. With the pandemic easing in 2023, our school attempted to arrange local study tours in Hong Kong but this year, our school resumed its overseas study program. 🗺️ Students from different grades visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with their respective year levels for activities and school exchanges, experiencing the local culture and the lives of their peers. This year, many parents also joined our study tours to witness their children's achievements and growth. As our students reflected after their World Classroom experiences, they believe this program has broadened their horizons. In addition to immersing themselves in the cultural customs and cuisine of different regions, they also embraced the local’s lifestyle during the week and forged friendships which have deepened their experience. PLKCKY has also taken this opportunity to establish new connections with several prestigious schools from different cities. 🤝In the future, PLKCKY hopes to continue to expand students' horizons and enrich their learning and life experiences through the "World Classroom" program. #WorldClassroom #StudyTours #CulturalExperiences #LearningOutsideTheClassroom

#EducationalTrips are more than just a break from the classroom; they provide invaluable experiences that shape a student's character and perspective. These journeys offer a unique blend of bonding time and exposure to the outside world, encouraging personal growth. Here's why they're crucial: 1. #BuildingStrongerBonds: Educational trips allow students to connect on a deeper level. Time spent outside the usual school environment fosters relationships that can last a lifetime. 2. #SteppingOutofComfortZones: These trips push students to confront new challenges, fostering adaptability and resilience as they navigate unfamiliar territory. 3. #LearningBeyondBooks: Students get hands-on experiences, bridging the gap between theory and practice, which is essential for a holistic education. 4. #UnderstandingDiversity: Exposure to different cultures, environments, and perspectives broadens their horizons, promoting tolerance and open-mindedness. 5. #Real-LifeProblem-Solving: Encounters with the outside world demand creative thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, which are critical life skills. Educational trips are a vital tool in preparing students for the ever-changing, dynamic world beyond their classroom, ensuring they become well-rounded, adaptable individuals. Thuongmai University research impact includes sustainable development, commerce and business. Our learning environment enables our domestic and international students to gain world recognised degrees.
Did you know that today is World Distance Learning Day? Today, Thuongmai University acknowledges our #education #partners who have, for many years, offered #degrees from countries such as #France, #Austria, and the #UK (and soon to be, #Australia). Not only during the #pandemic, but prior and post #covid19 our #international partners do entrance interviews, examine #finalyearproject, and offer some special classes via #onlinelearning - whether it is a #learning #program that is delivered entirely at a distance, or a #hybrid blend, the added flexibility and often more cost-effective option of distance learning is benefiting more #students around the #world than ever before. Especially recently, the surge of high-quality #online #curriculum and #courses have completely #transformed traditional #education methods and given birth to the distance learning movement. With that in mind, today is a day to be thankful for the distance learning #opportunities we have and the countless #resources that are available to use, and what these are doing to #reducing #inequality for students who may not have #access to a #classroom. As always, we love to #acknowledge the strength, #resilience and commitment of our students who not only learnt most of their #degrees during the pandemic, but also graduated virtually. Such a great example of grit and determination! #sdg4 #sdg4qualityeducation #sdg10

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? ✔️World schooling is an approach where learning extends beyond traditional classroom settings and textbooks, incorporating real-world experiences, cultural immersion, and travel to educate children about diverse cultures, languages, and global issues. World schooling is an expensive approach! Here are 4 accessible and efficient ways to provide your child with a global education without breaking the bank. ➡️𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘀: Use the internet by having virtual field trips. Utilize online platforms offering virtual museum tours, interactive documentaries, and educational YouTube channels. From exploring ancient civilizations to witnessing natural wonders, these resources allow your child to delve into different cultures and historical sites from the comfort of your home, all at little to no cost. ➡️𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀: Foster cultural understanding and language proficiency through cultural exchanges. Encourage your child to connect with pen pals from diverse backgrounds, participate in language exchange programs, or engage in online forums where they can interact with peers worldwide. These interactions not only broaden their horizons but also provide invaluable insights into different cultures and perspectives, all without the need for expensive travel. ➡️𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗹𝘆: While jet-setting around the globe may not be feasible for everyone, consider the concept of slow travel. Instead of rushing from one tourist hotspot to another, opt for spending extended periods in one location. This allows your child to immerse themselves in the local culture, form meaningful connections with the community, and gain a profound understanding of the region—all while minimizing travel costs. ➡️𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Embrace project-based learning as a budget-friendly way to nourish your child's curiosity and creativity. Encourage them to pursue their interests through research, multimedia presentations, or even starting a blog to document their learning journey. By exploring topics related to different cultures, languages, and global issues, your child can gain a comprehensive understanding of the world around them without the need for expensive resources or travel. While world schooling may seem financially daunting, accessible methods prove that providing your child with a global education is within reach! #k12 #education #worldschool #educators #edtech #schools #study #teachers

~ How to Deal With Homesickness at APU? (For Foundation/1st Year Students) 🌞 Embarking on a journey that spans continents to reach the shores of a tropical nation adorned with palm trees, Malaysia stands akin to renowned tourist destinations like Hawaii and Indonesian beaches. However, the pursuit of an undergraduate education, particularly within esteemed private institutions like the Asia Pacific University (APU), presents itself as a multifaceted endeavour. A synthesis of diverse cultures, varied faculty backgrounds, a diverse student populace, and the tropical environment, complete with the quirk of carrying umbrellas to uni, collectively define the APU experience which will make you forget any homelessness at heart. 🌂 For an individual such as myself, who was born and raised in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦and has been acclimatized to a parched and arid climate throughout my formative years, the transition to APU in Malaysia has induced a profound cultural shock. Although I'm starting my 2nd year here, I've managed to deal with the ups and downs (you will too). But this phenomenon is a shared one, prevalent among those who seek educational opportunities abroad, especially within international universities like APU. Bolstered by a well-crafted promotional campaign and a global presence in educational expos, APU witnesses an influx of aspiring high school graduates from various corners of the world. The choice to pursue education thousands of miles away from one's homeland inevitably engenders feelings of homesickness (which is natural to be honest). To address homesickness, students can leverage the free resources offered at the Psychological Wellbeing Center situated on Level 6, this facility serves as a support hub. However, for a substantial proportion, this transition is relatively navigable. The APU is known for its warm reception of the newcomers, fostering an inclusive atmosphere from the beginning. This ambiance is evident during the orientation sessions, where enthusiastic speakers exude a friendly vibe from the podium, a sentiment that resonates within the hearts of new students and reverberates throughout the classroom settings for years to come. (Not dragging it). ⭐ It is only necessary to acknowledge that one's remembrance of family and relatives back home stays at heart forever. Nonetheless, these mere feelings should not eclipse the narrative of studying at APU, which represents an occasion for holistic development – professionally and personally alike. The journey toward maturity should be gone through, and now's the time! Keep in touch! 💯 ~ Shah Saud Zaman Engineering Student at APU #APU #Malaysia #Communication #Advice #Guide #Homesick #Graduates #Highschool #AsiaPacificUniversity #KualaLumpur #Friends #Therapy #Health #Social #Life #Student #BachelorLife #Assistance #Care #SocialScience #Psychology #Counseling

Lessons Learned from 4 Years of School Trips: I've had the privilege of leading students on over 50 educational trips, here are my takeaways: 🌲 Learning happens everywhere: Textbooks offer a foundation, but school trips bring that knowledge to life. From historical landmarks to scientific wonders, these experiences solidify concepts and spark curiosity in a way the classroom alone can't. 👩🏫 Building connections is key: Shared experiences outside the classroom foster stronger bonds between students and teachers. These trips create lasting memories that translate into a more positive and collaborative learning environment back in school. ⚠ Developing adaptability: Travel throws unexpected curveballs. Cancelled trains, weather changes, or cultural differences require quick thinking and creative problem-solving. These experiences not only test student resilience but also hone my own ability to adapt and find solutions on the fly. 🌍 Diversity is a strength: School trips expose students to different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. This fosters empathy and understanding, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. 📢 Names not numbers: The importance of registering students by name and not head counts, that is a fast-track ticket to national news! Get to know all your students' names and medical needs before departure is vital as the first-aid lead.
